Your chest heaved heavily as you rested on your hands and knees, trying to catch your breath and get your thoughts together. Weakly crawling to the entrance—that's now blocked off by the wall Kai made—the palm of your hand against the rigid wall, hot tears flowing down your cheeks.

"Kai," you whispered. "Why...?"

Locking himself away in the room you once shared, Kai finally allowed the tears to come rushing out of his amber optics. He hugged the pillow, your pillow, close to his chest. It was the only possession of yours that remained. The lingering scent of your (favorite brand) shampoo filled his nose, his heart-shattering at the memories it brought back.

His shoulders shook violently as he shoved his face into the plush cushion of your pillow, tears soaking the fabric.

"Angel...I-I'm sorry, but this is for you."

Tears tumbled down your face, making a small 'splat' as they hit the concrete of the Hassaikai steps below. Your forehead was pressed against the wall that was created by the man you love so dearly, even if he created it to keep you from returning.

The pain shooting through your fingernails, in turn, caused your hand to pull away from the wall. You hadn't realized you'd been digging them into the rigid barrier, but upon the realization, you figured it'd be best to let go if you didn't want your fingernails ripped off.

Letting your hand drop to your side, you pushed yourself back onto your knees, finding yourself peering at the barrier built within–what used to be– the open doorway.

The young Hassaikai head went to great lengths to keep you out. You were sure that the entire layout of the building was completely altered by now just in case you managed to find your way back in, but with the way Kai treated you before he chased you out, you didn't want to go back in. Another thing, you noted, was a way to prevent your return to the Hassaikai.

The spontaneous appearance of his icy cold nature towards you, the way he spoke to you, his terrifying demeanor as he forcefully made you exit the building; they were all clear signs to leave.

You knew what he was doing. Kai used to mention how insightful you were; it was one of his favorite traits about you. Of course, you knew what his intentions were.

You knew he wanted you to hate him.

If the amount of hatred within you burned like a wildfire, it wouldn't have been difficult for you to leave. It would've made things easier on you, and you knew that's what your ex-lover wanted. He wanted you to leave him without the burden of regrets and doubts. For that to happen, you'd have to hate him.
