When You "Meet" Pops

A/n: Hey heyyy! I'm pretty sure no one requested this, but since Pops was a significant part of Kai's life, I figured I put this in here.

"...oss? Boss? BOSS?!"

Blinking numerous times in surprise, yet keeping his facial expression vacant, the amber eyed male turned his attention towards his right hand man and Mimic.

"Hm?"

Both Kurono and Mimic's eyes narrowed in suspicion beneath their plague masks. Something was definitely off, and they knew it. The young Yakuza leader never gets distracted during experiments. Perfecting the quirk erasing bullet was his only priority, but today, his mind seemed to be on something else.

The silver haired male looked at his boss in suspicion.

"You've been oddly...distracted today. Something on your mind?"

Mimic, though annoyed at being interrupted during working, was curious as well. Kai is the most driven man he's ever met, and if something was able to distract him from reaching his goals, then it must be something relatively big.

With a small scoff, the brunette merely waved off his associates.

"None of your concern. Now let's continue."

As Kai proceeded to continue with the experiments, his other two associates shared an unconvinced look. If they know one thing pretty well, it's their boss. And they know for a fact something's up with him. Shaking their heads in defeat, they both focused back on the task at hand.

Though, physically, the Yakuza leader seemed very preoccupied at the moment. But alas, his mind wondered elsewhere yet again.

The cabin that you both had stayed at not too long ago took the brunette on a walk down memory lane. It took him back to when Pops was conscious and leading the Hassaikai with a good head in his shoulders. The elder had taken Kai to said cabin many times to get away, much like you two did. Though he'd never ever admit it out loud, Kai enjoyed every minute of his life spent with his father figure. At times, the guilt gnaws at the back of his mind because of what he did to the man that showed him nothing but endearment and care. His only loving father figure in his life, and he cast him away like he was nothing. Kai cares for the elder dearly, but his views got the better of him and he forced the man into a coma that'll last God knows how long. He may not even wake up, and if that happens, that'll really drive Kai's guilt over the edge.

Kai's two associates notices his mind wandered off again, and the looked at him in annoyance. Kurono drug a hand down his masked face and let out an agrivated groan.

"Oh for the love of-BOSS!"

Snapping out of his train of thought, for the second time, the distracted male turned his attention towards his write hand man.

"What?"

Crossing their arms, Irinaka and Kurono stared at their boss. Each of them wore an inquisitive look beneath their masks. The shorter male spoke.

"You seem really distracted boss. Nothing ever gets in the way of your experiments. What's going on with you today?!"

They both knew well what Kai had done to the former boss. At least, Kurono surely did. Pops was just as much of a father figure to him as he was to Kai. Deep down inside of him, the silver haired male feels a slight amount of resentment towards his childhood friend for what he did to the former leader. He was a good man, wise beyond his years, and the amber eyed make just tossed him away like he was nothing. All for an ideal that he(secretly)felt was way too damn unrealistic to be achieved. I mean, wiping out eighty percent of quirks. Does he know how ridiculous that sounds? Though he'd definitely do anything for his children friend without any hesitation, he personally felt that his goal was extremely far fetched. Of course, he kept it to himself to having the walls decorated with his crimson bodily fluid.
