He Meets Your Parents

A/n: This here was requested by OhWellheck, (I think) Trystan_Lunastar, and GraceAdams939! I'm sorry if Kai's kinda ooc in this, but I hope it came together okay! (≡^∇^≡) This one turned out to be quite a bit longer than my other ones. I usually stop chapters a couple hundred words after 2000 but...this reached 4000. "Yup, today's an off day! I'm free to rest up until tomorrow."

To say that you were greatful for not one, but TWO, off days in a row would be an understatement.

It wasn't until you woke up this morning that you realized how much stress you've been put under. So many late nights making sure countless stacks of paperwork was up to date, an excruciating amount of hand cramps from typing and writing for countless hours, and staying up even later to provide motherly comfort to Eri.

Today, you were rewarded with a day off, and it was much needed.

You had taken the liberty of calling back home to check in on your parents. It was refreshing, finally being able to hear the loving voices of your parents after a while. Of course, like the curious person she is, your mother was bombarding your with quite about work. Which couldn't tell her of course, but she still pressed on about the matter.

"And you seriously can't tell me what you do at work? I'm curioussss!"

You covered your mouth as a giggle passed through your lips. The way that you could practically hear the pouting in you mother's voice was amusing.

"Like I told you last time, and every time after this because I'm sure you'll ask again, everything is completely confidential."

You burst into a fit of laughter as you heard her let out an exasperated groan.

"UGH...fine! Although I do have a question though? And, no, it's not about work. Well it kind of is, but it isn't about what you do. So can you PLEASE answer my question?!"

You soon ceased your laughter as you leaned back against the headboard of Kai's bead, hugging a pillow close to you.

"Alrighty then what's your question?"

"You know your father and I appreciate everything that you're doing for us, but I've got to ask. Are you doing okay over their?"

The amount of worry in her voice confused you. You sent them well over half of your paycheck everytime you received it. Of course it allowed them to finally be able to move to a better house that wasn't falling apart, they moved to a neighborhood that didn't chill you to the bone every time you walked down the street after darj, and they finally didn't have to worry about whether or not they'd have dinner. (Oof! I wish I lived like that! My b I'll leave, happy reading you lovely people😂✌❤) You gave them everything they needed, so why was she so worried about you?

"Of course everything's okay. Why wouldn't it be?"

You heard her sigh on the other end.

"You've been sending us lots of money every since you took up your new job four and a half months ago. I still can't believe that's not all of your paycheck you're sending us. Are you taking care of yourself? Your father and I are very greatful for everything you're doing, but you have to make sure that you're taking care of yourself just as much as you take care of us."
