Edmund groaned as he woke however many hours later, and he instantly realised that he was laying on the floor, inside, although where he didn't know.

He tried to move, but stopped quickly as pain shot through his whole body, gritting his teeth to keep back a cry of pain.

He lay there for a long while, before he eventually managed to push himself up to sit against the nearest wall, and flinched when he found shackles secured around his wrists.

He stared down at the iron shackles for a while, before taking in his surroundings.

He was in a cell by the looks of it, one window in the corner, a door that was locked shut, and nothing more than that.

It was cold and damp in the cell, but at least it wasn't dark, which Edmund was extremely relieved about.

He tried shifting himself into a more comforting position, but couldn't keep back a sob at the pain that followed, and after a while he just told himself to stay as still as possible.

He stared down at the shackles until a memory hit him... they were going to get rid of him, which he was almost certain meant they were gonna kill him.

Edmund squeezed his eyes shut tight, he didn't want to die, not before he'd seen his siblings again, not before Peter rescued him. What would his siblings do if when they found him they found him dead? Or what would happen if they couldn't find him and eventually presumed him to be dead?

Edmund shuddered at the thoughts, and thoughts of escape crossed his mind, but he knew it would be pointless to try anyway, the shackles were secured too firmly, and he was in way too much pain to even move a muscle, let alone try and walk through a whole house.

With a sigh he glanced up at the window, and managed to figure out that it was probably around late afternoon early evening, and swallowed hard at the fact that he'd been unconscious all day.

But at least he'd had some rest, although he wasn't exactly sure he could call it rest.

His head snapped up when the door burst open, two guards walking in and standing just inside.

Edmund was shocked when Logan was pushed into the cell by a third guard, the boy he'd been brought here with.

"Clean up his injuries and be quick about it." The third guard snapped, handing Logan a bowl of water and a cloth. "He needs time to recover, he's out of here in an first thing tomorrow morning."

Edmund frowned. What did he mean by "out of here"?

Logan nodded, mumbling a yes under his breath before two of the guards left, leaving one to keep watch over the two boys.

Logan sighed before walking over to Edmund and kneeling beside him.

Edmund tried to back away, fear overtaking him, but the pain was just too much.

"It's okay." Logan said quickly. "You know me, I won't hurt you."

Edmund seemed to calm down a little, and with a sigh Logan shuffled forward a little. "You look awful." He muttered as he wet the cloth.

"You don't look so good yourself." Edmund choked out, nodding at the bruise on his face and the cut lip.

"That's nothing don't worry." Logan muttered, pressing the cloth to one of the many lashes Edmund had.

Edmund hissed in pain, but allowed Logan to continue. "What did he mean by I'd be out of here?" He asked hesitantly.

Logan sighed. "You're being sold again." He muttered. "Did you honestly think they'd still want you working for them?"

Edmund didn't say anything. He was being sold, being taken somewhere else, which would surely only make it harder for Peter to find him. "I - I can't."

Logan shook his head. "I'm afraid you won't have a choice." He explained. "I'm pretty sure there's someone who already wants you to work for them."

"Why would anyone want me after what I did?" Edmund questioned, keeping back a sob at the pain.

"Do you actually think they'd say that you attacked a guard?" Logan almost laughed. "No one would want you then and they definitely would kill you, but no, they want the money cause they're greedy."

There was silence for a short while before Edmund spoke again. "How are you getting on? I haven't seen you since we got here."

Logan sighed. "It's not the best." He mumbled. "But I'm doing okay I guess."

Edmund nodded slowly. "That's good then." He whispered, flinching when the cloth brushed over a rather deep lash.

"You know," Logan started. "It was a really brave thing, what you did. No one has ever stood up to these people, that much is obvious, and I feel like it was time someone did."

Edmund smiled a little. "Thanks." He mumbled, before sighing. "Seeming as I won't be here for much longer, if you find someone called Asher, can you just tell him thank you?"

Logan smiled. "Will do." He replied with a nod, finishing with cleaning the lashes.

"Thanks." Edmund breathed. "And thank you too."

"Don't mention it." Logan said with a forced grin. "But I have to go now."

Edmund nodded. "Good luck." He breathed.

Logan sighed. "Thanks." He mumbled. "I'm gonna need it."

Edmund watched almost sadly as Logan left and the door was slammed and locked behind him, leaving just Edmund once again.

He couldn't help but feel extremely relieved now that he knew he wasn't going to die, but he was very anxious about being taken to a different place... what if it was even worse than this one?

Edmund shuddered at the very thought and squeezed his eyes shut quickly, taking deep breaths to calm himself and ignore the burning from his lashes as they healed.

Peter would rescue him, he was sure of it. It may take even longer now, or it may be quicker, but what mattered the most was he was rescued, didn't matter when, or how, only that he was.

"I'll be waiting Peter." Edmund whispered into the silence. "I'll be waiting... I promise."
