After maybe a minute of sitting there and doing nothing, Peter quickly stood from the bed and made his way across the room. Opening the door he peaked out into the empty corridor, taking a deep breath before beginning his walk to Susan's room.
He hesitated when he got there, telling himself over and over again that it was five o'clock in the morning, and that it was way too early to wake her up. But he then told himself that she had been in charge of getting together a search party, and he wanted to know when the next one was.
Taking a deep breath Peter knocked on the door. "Su?" He asked. "Susan wake up."
He tried a few more times before the door slowly opened, to reveal a still half asleep Susan, yawning as she rubbed at her eyes. "Peter what are you doing?" She grumbled.
"Why didn't you wake me?" Peter replied, unable to hide the hint of anger in his voice.
Susan stared at him for a moment before sighing. "Look I'm sorry alright." She began. "But there was absolutely no way you would've been able to stay up another night, and more than likely another day, you were exhausted Peter!"
Peter stared at her. "But Edmund could be miles away by now!" He argued.
Susan sighed again. "Look, all I can say is I'm sorry alright?" She said. "I just didnt want you exhausting yourself to the point where you make yourself ill, you wouldn't be able to go and find Edmund then would you?"
Peter swallowed hard. "I guess not." He mumbled, even though he knew that even if he did fall ill, it wouldn't stop him from going off searching, but he decided not to say that to Susan, for he knew it would probably start an argument. Instead he took a deep breath and asked: "When's the next search party leaving?"
Susan frowned at him. "Not until the morning." She said.
"It is the morning." Peter replied smartly.
Susan raised an eyebrow, clearly unimpressed. "I meant at a decent time Peter." She said. "Like 9am or maybe 10."
Peter sighed and glanced down at the ground, biting gently on his bottom lip before taking a deep breath. "Right." He muttered, before turning to leave.
"Where are you going?!" Susan called quietly after him.
"Back to my room." Peter called back, at once feeling guilty about lying. He reached his room within a minute and immediately changed into a clean pair of clothes, grabbed a cloak, attached his sword to his belt, and placed his crown on his head.
He'd only go searching for the day, and he'd be back by that evening. He just couldn't wait any longer to leave, not when he knew that his brother was in danger.
To his own surprise he managed to sneak down to the kitchen and grab himself something to eat and drink, before creeping out of the castle and into the woods, all without being seen.
After a moment or two of letting his eyes adjust to the darkness, he began walking, determined to find his brother.

Edmund squinted in the rising sun as he stumbled along through the woods, trying to ignore the irritating itch from his wrists because of the ropes, but he was grateful that they weren't tight enough to break through the skin.
Once again they'd been walking non stop since they'd stopped last night, and Edmund wasn't sure how much more of this he could cope.
As the hours went on and they got closer towards where Edmund knew the dessert, it started getting hotter and hotter, until he could feel the sweat on his forehead, and he had never been so thankful for the shade of the trees. He had a dreaded feeling that they were headed towards the dessert, and he knew what was on the other side...
But on top of the heat, his legs were starting to really ache and he was starting to feel dizzy from lack of food and water, especially water.
It was too hot not to be drinking enough, and Edmund couldn't help it when he collapsed, landing with a hard thud on the ground.
"What the-" He heard one of the men mutter, before a face appeared above him. "Get up!"
Edmund shook his head, his mouth opening and closing as if he wanted to say something, but no words came out.
"What's wrong with you?!" The man snapped. "I said get up."
"Water."
The man's head snapped up to face Logan, who had leant against a tree to rest, sweat dripping down his forehead and his breathing heavy. "I beg your pardon?"
"He needs water." Logan told him. "He's becoming dehydrated, and so am I."
Edmund swallowed hard, licking his lips before taking a deep breath and attempting to atleast sit up.
He managed it eventually and leant against a tree, taking deep breaths and trying to calm his pounding heart.
The man sighed. "I forgot you Narnians weren't quite so used to this heat." He muttered to himself, before turning to the rest of the group. "Give them both water, and hurry up about it, we need to continue moving."
Edmund had never felt so relieved when he felt a bottle of water pressed to his lips, and within seconds he'd drunk the whole lot, getting a raised eyebrow from the man who had given it to him.
But Edmund ignored the look and just sank back against the tree, feeling rather alot better, even if he did still feeling slightly sick from lack of food.
"Get up." The man from before snapped. "And I won't ask again."
Edmund glanced up, seeing Logan had just finished drinking and was standing up straight again, ready, if rather reluctant, to continue the journey.
After a moment or two Edmund pulled himself to his feet, swaying slightly when his head swam.
"Right, let's get going again."
Edmund was immediately forced to begin walking again, and as he did, he couldn't help but let one tear roll slowly down his cheek.
Where are you Peter?
