"For the last time, you can't just season something with salt to make it seasoned!"

A few days later, Steve had spoken with Fury and was no happier with him. Nova hadn't spoken to Natasha since, despite the red head trying to contact her.

Venom had gone into sulk mode because Nova refused to contact Nat. He wouldn't stretch from her shoulder much only if there was food or if he really needed to. He once even bit a bit of Nova's liver off because of it.

Now, Nova had just put on some black jeans and a black vest top before getting on her motorbike with Steve on his. The two of them were going to the VA where Sam worked.

When they got there, a session was already in progress so they stood by the door while they listened to Sam speak. Someone had just said they had swerved a plastic bag after mistaking it for an IED.

"Some stuff you leave there. Other stuff you bring back. It's our job to figure out how to carry it. Is it gonna be in a big suitcase, or in a little man-purse? It's up to you." Sam looked over the people listening as he spoke the encouraging words.

Steve and Nova moved to wait in the hall as people started to flitter out of the room. Sam spoke to one of the listeners before making his way over to a table near the duo.

"Look who it is, the running man and woman." Sam smiled.

"Caught the last few minutes. It's pretty intense." Steve said, moving towards the table with Nova.

"Yeah, brother, we all got the same problems. Guilt, regret." Sam replied, glancing back at the group while Nova cleared her throat and looked everywhere but the two men.

Nothing would ever make her feel better about her past. No words, no amount of sorry's to the graves of her victims. No matter how many flowers she placed on the ground for them. Their screams would haunt her nightmares. Their eyes a vivid memory as they lost all life. And it was because of her.

"My wingman, Riley. Flying a night mission. Standard PJ rescue op. Nothing we hadn't done 1,000 times before. Until an RPG knocked Riley's dumb ass out of the sky." Sam nodded, sadly.

"I'm sorry." Steve apologised and Nova nodded in agreement.

"After that, I had a really hard time finding a reason for being over there, you know?" Sam asked, looking between the two who nodded slightly.

"But you're happy now, back in the world?" Steve quizzed, leaning on the wall.

"The number of people giving me orders is down to about zero. So, hell yeah." Sam smiled and Nova let out a small chuckle. "Are you thinking about getting out?"

"No." Nova denied with a small shake of the head.

"No. I don't know. To be honest I don't know what I would do with myself if I did." Steve replied.

"I'd love to open a bakery, believe me, but the flour in my hair, it's just to messy." Nova joked, pretending to flick some long hair over her shoulder, Sam and Steve chuckled at the woman.

"What about ultimate fighting?" Sam asked Steve who laughed lightly. "Just a great idea of the top of my head. Seriously, you could do whatever you want to do. What makes you happy?"

"I don't know." Steve answered honestly.

"What about you, tats?" Sam questioned, facing the woman with a smile.

"I can think of a few things." Nova nodded, thoughts immediately coming to Natasha and Steve smiled knowingly. "Right, c'mon, home. I need to cook somethin' for us 'cause you can't cook to save your life."

"Hey, I made a chicken dinner last night. Seasoned and everything." Steve scoffed, the two of them leaving.

"For the last time, you can't just season something with salt to make it seasoned!" Nova exclaimed and Steve punched her shoulder jokingly.
