"She died and it was my fault."

Steve placed Nova down at the back of the jet and she curled into herself, mumbling incoherently. Steve sighed softly at her state, grabbing some chocolate and placing it on her knee. She didn't say a nothing, nor did she pick up the chocolate.

Her head was replaying the images over and over again. She couldn't un-see it. She was the one who had done it. She pulled the trigger. No one made her do it, but she did. It was all her fault that Natasha couldn't be happy.

Natasha stumbled into the jet next with the help of Clint. Her eyes were distant and scared but they found Nova. Clint carefully placed Natasha next to Nova before squatting in front of the tattooed woman.

"Nova?" Clint asked softly, grabbing her hand gently. Nova's eyes snapped to him; wide and scared.

"Tasha's gone. I killed Natasha." She mumbled,  voice cracking.

Natasha seemed to come back to reality a little more but she still wasn't focused. Her eyes moved to Nova who was shaking and clutching onto Clint's hand as if he would disappear.

"You didn't, Nova. She's right next to you, okay?" Clint tried to sooth her but she shook her head.

"N-no. I shot her. She died and it was my fault." Nova whispered, pointing at herself. 

"Nova, look next to you, alright?" Clint questioned calmly.

Nova turned to see Natasha's eyes flickering between her and the wall behind her. Slowly, Nova reached out to her and placed Natasha in her lap, cuddling her close. Nova stuffed her face into Natasha's hair as the red head slowly brought her arms around Nova's shoulders.

Steve looked back at the two in worry as they clutched onto each other. Never in his life had he seen Nova so upset and out of it, neither had he with Natasha. Clint stood from the floor and sat down opposite the two former assassins.

Natasha was slowly coming back to reality fully but Nova had only just started. She was still shaking but no longer mumbling. Her arms squeezed the smaller woman's waist, pulling her closer in case she was dreaming Natasha hadn't died.

"You're okay." Natasha started to mutter, gently stroking her back.

"You're here. I didn't kill you." Nova shook her head.

"I'm not going anywhere." Natasha whispered, only just realising the jet had been flying for an hour.

Nova nodded again, tired and sad. Slowly, as the ride continued, she fell asleep with Natasha in her arms, still keeping her close to her body.  She needed Natasha more than anyone at the minute. Natasha stayed on her lap, the closeness helping her as well as Nova.

"What was it about?" Tony asked Clint.

"What was what about?" Clint raised an eyebrow.

"Nova's nightmare. I've never seen her like this." Tony shook his head solemnly.

"Me neither." Steve added sadly.

"It's not my place to tell you, but, from the two or three words she spoke, it wasn't good." Clint sighed.

Clint started to pilot again as Maria called. Tony answered the call.

"The news is loving you guys." Maria started. "Nobody else is. There's been no official call for Banner's arrest but it's in the air."

"The Stark Relief Foundation?" Tony asked.

"Already on the scene. How's the team?" Maria questioned.

"Everyone's..." Tony paused, looking around the jet and his eyes landed on Nova who was now waking up, still holding Natasha to her body. "We took a hit. We'll shake it off."

"Well, for now, I'd stay in stealth mode and stay away from here." Maria suggested.

"So, run and hide?" Tony asked.

"Until we can find Ultron, I don't have a lot else to offer." Maria answered.

"Neither do we." Tony sighed sadly, clicking to end the video call before moving towards Clint. "Hey, you wanna switch out?"

"No, I'm good." Clint replied. "If you wanna get some kip, now's a good time because were still a few hours out."

"Few hours from where?" Tony questioned.

"A safe house." Clint said shortly.
