The next day, Katherine and the cast were going to perform for the last time in Boston. She had already gotten herself a plane ticket for the next day, not wanting to spend any more time away from home.
She had never expected so many things to happen to her on this trip. It was supposed to be simple. Go to work, do your job, and don't mess up. But instead, she was now going back to New York with feelings that she did not understand and a broken heart.
Things had not gone as planned.
When she had arrived at the theatre to get ready, Katherine had been quickly whisked away by her hair, makeup, and costuming team. So even if she had wanted to, she was unable to talk to Aaron.
As she was seated on her makeup chair, Katherine kept thinking back to everything that had happened. She started getting frustrated at Aaron, after all, he had completely ignored her after they kissed, and then he had acted jealous. As if she was his. But the way he was acting made it very clear that they were not together.
She had not so much as looked Aarons way before they started the show, Instead, she took some time to get her emotions in check, she had a job to do and she was not about to mess up because of a man.
Kissing him during the show had been the hardest thing Katherine had ever had to do. She had to fight herself so she wouldn't pull away every single time. But at the same time, a fraction of her selfishly wanted to keep kissing him, just in case she never got to do it outside of the stage.
Katherine quietly congratulated herself, proud of the fact that she had been able to sell the idea of being completely happy and in love with Aaron while they were on stage. When in reality, she was growing more and more frustrated with him by the second.
This wasn't what she wanted, and it was the last thing she needed to deal with. Katherine felt utterly and completely stupid. Of all the things she could have done, falling for her co-star was not something she had expected. And now it was jeopardizing everything.
Currently, she had just slipped past Aaron's grip as the final notes of "Chandelier" rang out. She wouldn't admit it, but Katherine had quite enjoyed tormenting Aaron on stage as the script told her to.
