I gasped and sat up in a bit of a panic. Glancing around I relaxed as I realized I was still in my bed, that it was all just a dream... Only, it wasn't... It was a memory, one that would forever haunt me. It was the day I lost everything, the day that I almost died, the day I found out about the monsters living in the forest.

Taking a deep breath i reigned in control over my emotions. The last thing I needed today was a panic attack.

11 years ago I lost my home, my family, my entire village. The only reason im not dead is because some neighboring townspeople who had found me in the forest bleeding to death. The towns leader took me in that day nursing me back to health, it took me two years to finally go back to being normal.

Now I live amongst the townfolk like I was born here, and I've not seen a single monster since. Gramps says it's because the cratures that live near us did not attack without reason, that they were peaceful. I still question that logic, I may have been young when my home was attacked but if there's one thing I did know, it's that we didn't do anything to those creatures who attacked us. I still question why they did it, why they slaughtered my people...what was the purpose...and why was I the only one who survived?

Shaking my head I tried to get rid of those thoughts I didnt want my past to rule over my life. I needed to move on...thats what they say, Move on...

Sighing, I climb out of bed and walk over to my window before glancing through the curtains.

I could see the townspeople bustling about with their daily lives, children running around playing, and shopkeepers working through the day.

Most of the villagers living in town were quite friendly, but they all know what happend to me... They all pity me, I often feel like an outcast, a burden even sometimes because of it.some people don't pity me but in truth hate me, they believe I will bring misfortune to them all, how can I blame them? A half dead girl miraculously surviving a werewolf attack that left no survives but her? Sounds like a bad omen to anyone who's superstitious. Sometimes it feels like im not even a resident in this town, just some guest who doesn't belong. But we're else would I possibly go if not here...would it have just been better if I died?

Stepping away from the window I Got dressed and made my way outside, wearing a cloak to shield myself from the people around me. Ignoring the side glances and inaudible whispers from the townsfolk I quickly made my way to gramps's house.

If there was one person who did make me happy in this entire town it was gramps. 11 years ago he saved me when I was on deaths doorstep, he took me in and raised me as his own, bringing me out of the box I had been confined in, giving me a second chance at life, a chance to grow up like a normal kid and be happy.

Walking down the dirt road I made my way to the center of town, until I finally reached his house. Stepping up to his door I knocked.

A moment of silence followed until a familiar face opened the door.

Though I called him gramps he was anything but a old wrinkled man hunched over walking with a cane, he was about 5'8 with some grey hair, a short, short beard, and a wize complexion. He smiled as soon as his eyes landed on me. "Sera" he spoke softly.

I smiled before giving him a quick hug. "good morning!"

He only chuckled in response before patting my shoulder. "Good morning sweet pea, what brings you over."

I simply shrug as I pull away and go inside his house. "Just thought I'd make sure you ate breakfast, with your age im almost positive you forget sometimes." Looking through his kitchen I started grabbing some eggs out of the basket on his table.
