"So, Mom and Dad," I awkwardly drummed my hands on the counter, "I have been doing a lot of thinking lately, and I, uh, need to ask you something."

"What is it, Alison?" My dad said annoyed not looking up from the news paper he was reading.

"It's actually really important," I stalled by glancing around at all the expensive kitchen stuff I'll probably break at one point or another. "So, I'd really appreciate it if you would listen."

My mom in a sweet tone, set down her papers and looked up at me saying, "What is it sweetie?"

My dad followed suit with her actions and now the center of attention was on me, something I always hated.

I cleared my throat and spoke, "Well, I've been thinking, and, um, how do I put this, I wanna' finish school early."

My dad immediately looked confused tinted with anger, but as for my mom, she gave me a small smile.

"Well, finish, by like taking all my finals and stuff, so I'd really be doing everything but in a shorter amount of time," I nervously scratched the back of my head. "High school just isn't for me..."

My dads emotions softened and formed into a deep, neutral face.

"I respect that you're getting our permission, Alison, but I do not think leaving high school early would be a good idea. You need to stay in school and out of the house," my dad said sternly.

"Now, Harry," my mom cut in, "don't you think you should at least consider our daughter's wishes?"

By the look on my dad's face, he was contemplating in his head.

"Fine, Alison, I here by grant you our permission to finish off school, but under one condition."

I nodded my head excitedly not believing he actually said yes.

"You must not live in this house after you leave school. If you're leaving school to start early, you have to have the responsibility to maintain an apartment of your own."

"Well, I do have this one friend that'll let me pay rent and stay with..." I trailed off not wanting them to know the gender.

"Stay with?... Alison, this friend isn't a boy, right?" My dad got stricter every word. "Absolutely not."

"No, dad! He's gay, I swear, I swear!" I quickly made up to save myself.

"Whew," he started to laugh.

"Is that the last of them?" Ricky asked as he glanced up and down at the truck.

"Seems to be," I brushed off the remaining dirt on my hands. "Thanks again for letting me stay with you, Ricky."

"Yeah no problem. I was just expecting your dad to put up more of a fight, from what you told me of course."

"I know right! He seemed cool about it. That's if him and cool even fit in the same sentence," I laughed.

"Did you finish all the tests?" Ricky asked changing the subject.

"Yep, I really needed to get out of high school. I never even considered leaving early until you brought it up to me."

I surveyed my new home for a bit until Ricky came out of his room in work out gear.

"I'm goin' for a run. I'll be back later. Don't miss me too too much," he smiled at me and left.

Ok, ok, what to do. Normally there's so much excitement in my house. Now, I'm all alone in a huge apartment complex. I could invite someone over? Who am I kidding? I have no real friends except Ricky.
