"This is great, isn't it?" Cam ask me as we lay together on my bed.
I was so zoned out of the conversation I could barely hear him.
"Ali? You in there?" Cam laughs as he waves a hand in front of my face.
I finally snap out of it just as Cam grabs my hand like old times. "Oh yeah, sorry. I was just thinking."
"You looked horrified," Cam says as he plays with our hands.
"It's just, Kian. He always text me and it makes me want to-" I pause. "Well, I don't know what I want to do because it's so confusing."
"Maybe you should become friends with him? He can't be that bad," Cameron suggests.
"He's bad," I explain. "2 weeks ago, he almost ruined my whole stay with Jc at the cabin. Oh yeah, he likes me too. Well he can shove that one way up hi-"
Cam interrupts me laughing, "Ok, ok, Ali, I get it."
I admired him for a few seconds, "Why are you so perfect?" I blurted it out without thinking and regretted it. I clearly meant it as I like him. But he doesn't have to know about that. I'm sure that crush will blow over.
Right?
"Uh, Ali," he gave me a confused look that turned into a smile. "I'm flattered, but you've got Jc."
"I meant it in a best friends way," I nervously laugh. "What did you think, silly?" I lied like a rug.
Cam sighed unconvincingly, "Look, Ali, I like you too, but we can't and we won't."
What's that suppose to mean?
Whatever.
I was so dreading getting up this morning. Last night, Cam had left at about 10. But he left me confused. The thing he said about him liking me was just so confusing.
'We can't and we won't.'
Even if I wasn't with Jc he still wouldn't.
Well thanks, Cam. No need to flatter me at all. Just tell me the whole low down of my flaws while your at it.
Later at school, just before lunch I had received a text from an unknown number.
Loves a game. Let's not play. Let's compete.
-jJ? This couldn't be Jc? Who's name starts with J here?
I went down the list of people. There is only a few people that start J. None of them in which close to me in any way. I'm always that girl on the side lines. Who could possibly want to fight over Jc with the reserved nobody of the school?
"Hey, Ali. Wanna eat lunch outside with me?" Jc came up from behind me.
I smiled at him, "Sure, I'll meet you at the entrance of the school."
I waited outside on the bench with a banana and water in hand. When the doors opened, I was not at all expecting Kian to come out.
I rolled my eyes at him, "What do you want, Kian?"
"Don't be too hasty, love," he dryly chuckles. "I'm only the messanger."
"Messanger," I looked at him unconviced. "Why on Earth would Jc send you out to tell me anything? He knows I hate you."
Ignoring my comment, Kian continues, "Anyways, I'm suppose to let you know that Jc couldn't make it out here today." As if it isn't evident. "And that he will call you tonight and explain."
I narrowed my eyes, "I don't believe you."
"Believe what you want, Princess. It's the honest truth."
