(Same day)

"Listen Harry.. i've never told anyone this story." I'm still in his embrace, looking out towards the view and back up at him here and there. "Please don't tell anyone.. i'm going to trust you with it.. it is one of the biggest reasons why I am the way I am.."

He awaits fully concerned and intrigued by what i'm going to tell him.

"Exactly one year ago on this day, on September 24th, I was sixteen living in New York City with my parents. Every Friday night we would eat dinner at our favorite diner located on the near outskirts of the city." I begin quietly and Harry seems to put two and two together before I say anything else because he swallows hard and clenches his jaw protruding compassion. He seems deep in thought as i'm speaking my story.

"That Friday night, my mother and father died tragically and left me behind.." I continue trying not to break. "But it felt more like I died along with them.. at least the girl I used to be died along with them." I confess slightly teary-eyed and he squeezes me more into his warm chest.

"Danielle- I- i'm so sorry you had to go through that.. you- you didn't deserve that.." He also seems to be holding back tears from hearing my story.

Is he really being emotionally moved by my story?

Harry seems to be in pain for something I went through. He seems to be radiating the hurt and the pain and the brokenness I felt when I got the tragic news. I wasn't sure if it was because he was showing me sympathy or because he actually felt it..

"What you've been through is something I don't wish upon anyone.. ever. I'm so sorry you've been through that.. I can't imagine how it feels to lose both parents at such a young age.." He rambles on sympathetically.

I look away and towards the night lights of the buildings over in New York City. I lean into Harry's chest a bit more as if it was a natural instinct, continuing my story.

"How.. did it happen love?" He asks softly but hesitantly.

"Well.." I begin again swallowing hard. "Like I mentioned before.. the three of us were having dinner at our usual diner.."

"We were enjoying our food while my f-father was making silly jokes

"We were enjoying our food while my f-father was making silly jokes." I stutter with a shaky voice, smiling softly in remembrance of my father's humor. "We were interrupted by a news report on the diner's tv warning the public that there was going to be a major downpour in the city. After hearing that, we agreed to leave and get a head start home, since we- we lived about half an hour away. My father was driving carefully, but it didn't matter because the roads were way too slippery.. we just- we couldn't see clearly a-and someone got in our way." I hold my tears back from spilling, I just can't let them spill or everything will end up falling apart completely.
