Chapter 41: The Betrayal

I check who's at the door and to my surprise, it's Max.

"What's up?" I asked. "I came to help. I know you won't be able to do this alone." Max said. "Don't sweat it, I managed to stop him for a bit, but if you want we can try." I added.

"What do you mean you managed to stop him for a bit?" Max asked. "I used an Eternal Death move on him and it looked like it stopped him for a moment." I said. "And you think that's going to work?" Max asked. "Yup."

"Okay, you're going back to wherever you talked to Jackal and I will try to enter your mind with my abilities." Max said. "Great, time to see them again." I reluctantly said.

I began to enter the void once more and see Jackal and my corrupted self. My corrupted self was on the ground, trying to keep himself alive.

"I'm in." Max said as he appeared next to me. "So this is where you've been?" Max added. "Indeed I have, and long time no see, Max." Jackal said. They both just stared at each other, menacingly.

"And this must be the other Chris." Max added. "You got a problem with that?" Corrupted Chris said. "Yes I do, a big one." Max said right before he kicked him in the stomach, launching him farther into the void.

"Max, I think he had enough." I said. "Well it's all I was going to give him anyways." Max said.

"So, how do we remove this problem that we're having?" Max asked. "With the blood of an angel, I thought Chris told you this." Jackal said. "He didn't tell me, but now I know how to help." Max said as he smiled back at me.

"Not so fast, I won't let you get rid of me!" Corrupted Chris said. "Try us." Max said as he pulled us out of the void.

"Now we just wait until Azora comes by or just other angels." Max said. "I guess." I said. "Why do you sound upset, don't you want to get rid of the corruption?" Max asked.

"I do, but what will happen to me if I consume an angels blood, won't I die since I'm a demon." I said. "You're not a demon." Max said. "Yes I am, I was born with the Blood Demon Abilities, so that makes me a demon." I said. "You wouldn't understand."

"I know I don't understand, but give me the chance to help you. I can find a way to keep you alive after you drink angel blood." Max said.

Instantly, I punched him across the living room.

"What the fuck was that for?" Max said. "What was what?" I asked. "The random punch you just gave me!" Max said. "I didn't punch... oh wait, I did!" I said. "Oh no." Max said.

"Finally, I'm free of that stupid ability. Now, how about we head outside and have some fun." I said. "How did you get out?" Max asked. "I did what all of you, couldn't do, I killed Jackal, he was the one holding me back." I said.

"You bastard!" Max said as he flew towards me, breaking out through the door. "Finally, some real fun!" I said as I threw Max to the ground like a rag doll.

"A strong Half Demon, against an Archdemon, this will be fun." I said.

Max pointed his palms at me and summoned his chains from the ground. He made the chains wrap around my entire body and dropped me down.

"Where's Chris?" Max said furiously. "He's gone, I'm the new Chris, the one that will kill off every last piece of humanity, until nothing but demons walk the surface of this corrupted world!" I said maniacally.

"Also, try harder with these chains, and mine are better." I said breaking out and summoning my chains.

Max stayed shocked and froze in place.

"This... this was why Azora flew away in fear... because of you!" Max said. "Ha Ha... Bingo... you're slow, but smart I'll give you that." I said.

"Blank Mind!" Max said. His ability was able to make my mind go blank and I wasn't able to move or talk.

"This will keep you at bay while I call the others." I said. "It could, but next time hit the real me." I said. The Chris Max froze was a clone, and it began to fade into dust.

"I'm always a step ahead out of all of you." I said behind Max.

Max swung his sword but I was able to grab his wrist. "Damn it!" Max said as he grunted.

"No one will know you're gone!" I said.

In one second, I plunged my hand through Max's chest. He coughed out blood as he slowly began to lose conscience.

Max pushes himself to remove my arm and he began to heal himself. "Not so fast!" I said as I summoned my Sickles.

I quickly sliced Max's hands off and his face was in pure fear. He slowly began to fall to the ground onto his back.

"Goodbye Max..." I said.

I wake up and was confused why I'm not inside the house when I was with Max inside my house.

I look to my left and see Max, slowly dying. "Max!! What happened?!" I asked almost tearing. "You... happened." Max said while holding my hand.

"Chris... don't get near the others... find an angel... and get the blood... Tom can teach you... how to bring me back..." Max said.

As his final breath came along, he said his final words, "Don't tell anyone... that I'm dead..."

"Max... please... don't go... I'm sorry..." I said as I summoned my sword.

"I have no other choice..." I said as I put my sword up against my neck.

"What are you doing?" A voice said. "Who's there?!" I asked. "I'm you, the corrupted self." It said. "What do you want? What else could you probably ask for? You took my friend just because you wanted to have fun!!" I said.

"I want revenge. I want revenge on this world for what it is. I am trying to fix this world." It said. "Liar, you just want your name to be feared, to be known by all!" I said furiously. "Yes, and what has this world done for you that helped you?" It said.

"I.. uh.." I said. "Exactly, nothing, so let me free and let us fix this world!" It said. "I did get something out of this world, I got friends, family, and a partner, something you will never receive!" I added. "You're hopeless." It added as I blacked out again.

"I know you can hear me inside, so listen closely, I will fix this world, starting with your friends!" It said while controlling my body. "Starting with your friend Tom and going down to the youngest, Luke." It added.

Inside, I heard everything he said, and I tried to gain control, but I was to weak.

I failed.

I arrived at Tom's house and tell him what happened to Max. I said that a demon killed Max and it ran off to find Tom and it left me knocked out.

"I see." Tom said as tears rolled down his eyes. "Does anyone else know?" Tom asked. "No, nobody knows yet." I said. "So where did the demon that killed Max go?" Tom asked.

"He said he was headed to find you." I said. "Did he follow you?" Tom asked. "No." I responded. "Because he's right in front of you!" I added. "What?!" Tom said. "You killed Max!!??" Tom added.

"Poisoning Slash!" I said as I quickly summoned my sword and swung at Tom.

Apparently, Tom was able to counter it with his sword. He was also able to teleport us to the same forest we faught Jackal.

"Corrupted Reality." Tom said. In my eyes, I saw Tom surrounding me from every angle.

"You'll pay for this!" Tom said.

"NOW DIE!!!!" Tom yelled furiously.
