Chapter 17: Sam

A metal rod shot towards me and pierced my left shoulder. The rod lifted me up and threw me across the room and into a wall.

"God dammit, John cover me!" Sean said. "Copy that."

John sprints towards Valkus and swings his sword, chopping her arm off.

"You despicable little brat! I should rip off your head."

Valkus charges at John but Krystal kicks her away from him.

Into Tom's illusion...

What do I do? I can't do anything to save myself.

Tom pulls out his sword and carefully tries to attack his father.

"Tom, come here for a minute." Tom's dad said. "Coming!"

Tom backs away from them and waits for the right moment.

"What is it dad?" "I want you to close your eyes and imagine a world of full of good things, ok?"

As soon as Tom's dad lifted the knife, Tom grabs the knife and pierces his sword through his chest.

"What the- Tom?!" "You made me into this and when I'm done with what I'm doing, I will find you and kill you."

"You wouldn't kill your own father, who will take care of you? I know your mother won't because she's been dead for 3 years." "Max and his family." Tom said, guiding the sword out his dads side.

Tom's illusion started to fade away and he appeared furious.

Into Max's illusion...

"Where are you guys?!" Max said. "In the bathroom!"

Max rushes while the house is collapsing on top of him. A piece of wood falls on top of his leg.

"Dammit!"

Max pushes the wood off and continues to search for them. As he's searching he can hear one of the firefighters scream get out.

"Soul finder." Max said. His ability let's him find souls or an active mind in a close area.

"Found you."

Max punches through the door, grabs them and stands at the edge of the window.

"Hey! Someone catch these two!" Max said as he threw his parents into the arms of the firefighters. "I smell... gas." Max said. "Back away, it's gonna blow!" Max jumps out as soon as the building explodes.

Max landed on his back spitting out blood. Young Max smiled and ran to Max.

"I told you kid... you will be a hero... just not a holy one."

Max fades back into reality, charges at Valkus and stabs her right through chest. "Don't toy with me!" Max said.

Into Luke's illusion...

Think Luke, think.

Luke quickly thought of jumping on top of the car at the right moment. Luke jumped high and over the car and he sees his younger self getting tired.

"I won't let you kidnap my younger self!" Luke said as he is coming in hot.

"With a bit of fire and with my sword, I can cut through the cars roof." Luke said.

Luke swings his sword forward and makes a flame wheel, cutting the car in half. Young Luke looks at Luke and runs at him with tears in his eyes. Luke jumped of the car and grabbed his younger self and hugs him while crying.

The driver gets out and points a gun towards both of them. "Kid, want to see something awesome?" Luke asked. "Yeah." "Hold your hand out and say, Eternal Death." Luke said as he held young Luke's hand. "Eternal Death!"

Luke makes it look like young Luke shot a small needle towards the driver, killing him painfully.

"You listen to me kid, don't go anywhere by yourself, ok!" "Ok, and thank you, that was awesome."

Luke also starts to fade back charges at Valkus and holds the sword to her throat.

"Sam, finish her off." Max said. "Oh don't worry, I'll finish her off quick."

"I don't think so..." Valkus shoots more sharp poles but at Sean, Kathy, John and Krystal. I was still wounded and couldn't stand up.

"Flashbang!!!" Valkus blinds Tom, Max, and Luke. "Now Sam, what will it be, you surrendering, or me killing them all?"

"Sam listen to me, don't listen to a word she says, she wants your demon powers!" I said.

Another pole shoots toward me and hits my stomach. I start to lose conscience and cough blood.

"CHRIS!!!!" Everyone said my name in horror.

"Times ticking Sam." Valkus said.

"Fine... I surrender, but heal everyone or I won't surrender." Sam said.

"Fine." Valkus snapped her fingers and healed everyone. "But I won't unblind the ones who were blinded."

"I'm sorry but the party.. is.. OVER!!" Tom said while impaling Valkus in the back. "Now Sam!"

Sam lifts her sword, and swings at Valkus killing the demon once and for all.

Everything start to fade and Sam realizes that everyone who was healed is still wounded. Especially someone.

"Max, Sam, heal him now!" John said.

Max and Sam rush over to me and start to heal.

*gasp* "What happened? Did we win?" I asked. "Yeah, we won, we just need my demon, Luke's, then Tom's" Max said.

"Well I'm resting until everything is over." I said. "Wake your ass up." Max punches me in the stomach. "What the hell was that for?" I said. "You're not going to rest until we're finished."

I frown...

We start to head out and put our swords away. Luke and I planted explosives in the building and making sure not to miss a spot.

As soon as we leave and enter the cars, Luke and I detonated the bombs and it blows the building to crumble down.

"Well looks like no one will find the bodies." I said. "Shut up." Sam said.

We drive off, smelling like dead corpses and we all just stay quiet the whole trip back to John's place. As soon as we arrive, Luke insisted on taking a shower first.

"Hey John, do you have any snacks? I can't find any in your cabinets." I asked. "No, but there's a store nearby. It's close to the old abandoned hospital."

"Great." I said while frowning.

"I'll go with you, just in case something happens." Tom said. "Plus, I have money for the snacks." "Alright then, we'll be right back." I said.

"Be safe you two." Sean said.

We start walking to the store and everything is fine until we see smoke and fire.

"What the hell is happening over there?" Tom said. "I don't know, lets go check it out." I said.

We both start sprinting to the fire and see the abandoned hospital in flames.

"I have an idea, summon your sword and we both make two wind swipes to get rid of the fire." Tom said. "That's not gonna work." "Trust me. I'll go on the other side."

I nodded and Tom leaped over the flames to reach the other side. He counts down from three.

"3...2...1" Tom yelled.

We both swing and blow at the fire making it go up and disappear. We put away our swords so the cops don't suspect something.

"Alright, let's go to the store." Tom said. "What the-? How did you get over here so quick?" I asked. "I ran." Tom said exhausted. "Oh."

We leave the crime scene and head to the store.

"Just as according to plan." A voice said.
