Song - Solar Power by Lorde

"Y/n," Timothée said for the fourth time.
"We need to go."
I was pressed up against the wall of the hotel room.
"I'm not ready to say goodbye just yet." I complained keeping my feet where they were.
"I know but we need to be checked out by 10 and it's 9:55." He added tapping his watch.

"We still have five more minutes then."
"Y/n." He sighed. "Am I Gonna have to drag you away from the wall?"
"Yes."
I felt his hands wrap around my waist as he pulled my reluctant body away from the Parisian wall paper.
"Come on." He said gently.
I groaned.

He let go of me as we got to the door.
"Goodbye Room 33." He said with a smile that spread from his face to mine.
"Goodbye Room 33." I said too and we shut the door. As he locked he began;
"I envy your sentimentality."
"Sentimentally is an admireable attribute until you have to leave the most perfect hotel room."

"Come on. We'll get some nice croissants at the airport and you'll be happy again."

...

"Mommy!" Daisy ran up to me and nearly knocked me over with the force of her excitement.
"Hello darling." I lifted her up. "Did you have fun at Granny's?" I asked bopping her nose and looking over at Tim's mum.
"Lots!" She replied enthusiastically.
Just then Timmy walked in with the bags.
"Daddy!" She said now aching to get off of me and to hug him.

She did and stronger too. She gripped his grey jumper with all her might. I think she had her favourites, but that was okay. He's my favourite too.

...

Paris had reignited something in our relationship, in my life even. My mood tended to stay above the surface instead of constantly dipping down into a deep and depressive ocean. What the difference a week of sunshine, sex and no parenting responsibility could make.

And I was finally starting to feel like myself again. Like that 23 year old girl who fell in love with the American photographer. To keep the feel of Paris alive I'd been reading a lot of french literature and I'd learned in one of my non fiction books that France has highest fertility rate in Europe. Along with that one of the highest birth rates.

One evening as I turned that page nodding my head at this new knowledge something clicked. I can't remember when my last period was. My whole body stiffened and Timothée next to me (himself reading a fiction book) noticed this.
"You alright babe?" He asked.
"Yeah," I'd said. "I'm fine."

...

The next day I woke up really early. The alarm clock told me it had just gone eight and for a Saturday that was unusual of me. I looked at my sleeping husband. He wasn't waking anytime soon. So, I got out of bed and tiptoed along to the bathroom. I cautiously opened the medicine cabinet. We had a few boxes of pregnancy tests from when we were still trying. I opened one box, stared at it for a moment then I took it.

The minutes seemed to go by painfully slowly as my heartbeat intensified so loud I could hear it. I tapped my foot impatiently. I turned the test over, two lines. I gasped. Something told me not to take it too seriously but another told me yes this is it.

I wandered back to my bedroom with the test in hand. I sat back down on the bed, Timothée was now snoring. Perfect. I nudged him. He groaned a little but nothing else.
"Tim," I whispered.
Nothing.
"Tim," I said a bit louder.
He mumbled something that I wasn't even able to decipher with how coated in sleep it was.

"Timothée." I said, seriously.
One eye opened. I could always get him by hitting him with that no nickname shit.
"I'm pregnant."
Both eyes now, and complete shock in them.
"What?"
"I'm pregnant." I smiled.
"Oh my god."

He sat up.
"You are?!"
I handed him the test.
"Oh my god." He held it up to his face.
"Um I peed on that."
"Oh my god." He said grossed out and dropping it. "Holy shit y/n this is amazing." He hugged me.

"But we shouldn't get our hopes up."
"No, no you're right."
We returned serious...for a moment.
"Ah I can't help it," Timmy said. "We're gonna have another baby!"
