Song - Mary by big thief
Warning - SAD

2000

I woke up that morning in the happiest state I could. One of those mornings where it's not an alarm clock that wakes you but just a slow realisation of your surroundings. My heart warmed as I looked down to Daisy cuddling into mean in her little polka dot pyjamas.

At the stroke of midnight, me and Timmy had been asleep for a little bit, we heard our door creek open. We only locked it for you know what so if there was fire or anything it'd all be fine. At first I ignored the noise but Timmy shook me.
"Y/n." He said in a sleepy voice.
"W-what?" He nodded his head to the door.
"Daisy? What's wrong darling?"

She rocked back and forth on her heels.
"I had a nightmare."
"Oh baby...you wanna come up and see mommy?" She nodded and jumped up to the bed.
"Woah." Timmy said as he unexpectedly felt the bed move. Daisy crawled up into my arms.
She nuzzled her little head against me like she did when she was a baby.

Daisy was still sound asleep when I awoke but Timothée was just waking up. I felt his good morning kisses on the back of my neck. Usually this indicated he wanted to get some before work.
"Morning baby." I said not turning around.
"Morning." He said slowly, seductively.
"You know what? I've got a morning surprise." He was being loosely romantic, we could be that way with 3 years of marriage.

He prodded his erection against my ass.
"Uh Tim I don't think that's a good idea."
"Why not?"
"Cause Daisy is right here."
"Oh god!" Ashamed and embarrassed, he immediately headed straight for the bathroom and I burst into laughter.
Then Daisy was awake. She done a little yawn that was so adorable,

Later I was making breakfast. Timothée didn't start work till eleven today and his studio was real close so he was able to stick around for his stack of pancakes.
Daisy got two one with raspberry jam and the other butter. Timothée had a few more, as explained to Daisy he's a "big boy" I'd say and ruffle his hair. Daisy was always full after two anyways so I don't know why she complains, the extra would go to waste.

"Babe could you pass me the maple syrup please?" Timmy asked.
"Sure," I was still on my feet so I got it from the cupboard and gave timothée a forehead kiss. He looked up though to kiss me on the lips.
"Ew!" Said Daisy.
I laughed and sat down with my own stack.

"Okay so Tim you finish at 5 today?"
I asked.
"Yeah." He managed through a mouth full of pancakes.
"Okay so if I drop Daisy off at your mums for...half four. That'll give us time to make it to the doctors for six. We'll just get a taxi?"
"Good idea. I hate the subway."

...
We sat in the waiting room pretty calm for our second time around. It was too early to tell but;
"Do you think we'll have another girl or a boy." I brought up.
"Girl. Definitely."
"Why so sure?" I teased with a smile.
"Cause you were so set on the whole big thing. I bet you can only have girls." He joked.

"I'd be quite happy to have another girl." I admitted.
"Really?"
"Well. I wouldn't have been really. But having Daisy opened my eyes. Plus wouldn't it be cute if when they were a little older they stole each other's clothes and stuff? I used to do that with my cousins." I laughed.

"That would be cute." Timothée chuckled.
"And we already have proof we make gorgeous babies. So no need to worry."
"Oh yes. Top class sperm babe."
"Why thank you." He laughed.
"You know what name I like."
"You're one month y/n."
"I know but it's kinda stuck."
"Go on then, tell me." He smiled.

"Mary. Remember when we had Daisy? And that midwife...she was stunning and so kind. She held my hand when I was having contractions before you got there. Her name was Mary."
"I like that. Emotional attachment equals double points."
He put one hand on my stomach.
"Mary." He whispered. "Yeah, I think that's her name." He looked back up to me and smiled.

"Mr. And Mrs. Chalamet?" The doctor called into the waiting room.
"Ooh ooh thats us!" I said standing up with Timmy and following her into the room.
"How are we all today?" The doc asked as she prepared all the things. Timmy sat in the corner nervously (he always got that way around doctors) while I got on the chair.

"Good, Good."
"Great!" She said not really listening. "Now I'm just going to do a scan and see that everything's normal. You feeling alright? Any morning sickness?"
"No, strangely. I had a lot of that with my first child."
I heard a small laugh from Timmy obviously remembering those heinous mornings.

The doctor smiled and swiped this warm gel on my stomach. I winced slightly.
She looked to a little monochrome colour screen beside her.
"Hm..." she uttered.
"What's wrong?" Timmy asked, immediately worried.
"I- um...hold on I just want to check something."

A feeling of cold worry tickled up my spine. The doctor left the room. Timmy was up from his seat. I grabbed his hand and he kissed it. The doctor returned with another doctor who looked older and more experienced. He looked at the screen, looked back at the other doctor and shook his head.

"I'm sorry...we can't detect a heart beat."

...

I threw my pink purse on the couch depressingly before flopping down beside it. My mouth was dry and my body ached of sadness. Timothée timidly approached me on the couch. My eyes were glued to the floor. He nuzzled into my shoulder like a dog offering affection and placed a kiss on my neck. I turned and looked at him, gripping the edge of the couch. I saw him gulp at the sight of my wet eyes.

"Y/n, I-"
I put a finger over his lips.
"Can we just sit? I don't wanna talk."
"Yeah," from his voice crack I gauged that he was a bit surprised. "Yeah of course."
"Thank you." I said before relaxing into him and letting him comfort me. He stroked my hair and occasionally gave me a forehead kiss. I wept into his jumper till it was wet. I didn't want to go to bed, I didn't want to stay up. I just wanted time to stop so I could not be in that moment.

That night the city's sky's wept with enormous grief. I fell asleep on the couch in my husbands embrace. He fell asleep too because when we woke up I was still on the couch with him.
"Morning." He said in a careful whisper.
"Morning." I replied forcing a weak smile.

He squeezed me in our embrace.
"I'm still here." He said and kissed my nose.
"I love you Timothée." I said, heavy with emotion.
"I love you too, y/n. We'll get through this, I promise. I can't stand to see you sad." He wiped an invisible tear from my cheek.

"We have to go through the bad to get to the good." He went on.
I smiled, this time for real.
"Ah Tim. What would I do without you." Emotion welled in my heart. We kissed.

A/N: sorry I got y'all's hopes up. I did give you the Marley and me warning.
