As new prisoners were taken in, I sat back against the wall of my cell, sitting idly by, watching, amused.
The next cell over always seemed to have opinions, however, he was imprisoned by his own father. I looked over while he stood, admiring the newest additions, "Odin continues to bring me new friends. How thoughtful."
"The books I sent, do they not interest you?"
Resting my head against the cold wall, I listened to the interactions between the queen and her son as they spoke.
"Is that how I am to while away eternity? Reading?"
"I've done everything in my power to make you comfortable, Loki."
"Have you? Does Odin share your concern? Does Thor? It must be so inconvenient them asking after me day and night."
Shaking her head, she spoke softly, "You know full well it was your actions that brought you here."
"My actions? I was merely giving truth to the lie that I had been fed my entire life, that I was born to be a king."
"A king? A true king admits his faults. What of the lives you took on Earth?"
"A mere handful compared to the number that Odin has taken himself."
"Your father-"
"He's not my father!"
His voice echoed and filled the empty halls as she took in a mere breath, regaining her posture, "Then am I not your mother?"
He sighed and met her eye, his face set stone-cold, "You're not."
She smiled and gave him a soft chuckle as she shook her head, "You're always so perceptive about everyone but yourself."
Reaching out to touch her, he sighed as she disappeared to his very touch. He groaned and threw a chair as he let out a yell of dismay.
I let out a laugh as he turned to me, annoyed, "What is it you want from me, girl?"
I rolled my eyes and jumped to my feet, "I have been here for as long as I can remember. Yet you complain and disregard those who allow you the finer things. I'm surprised you never took notice to those around you."
He eyed me up and down before meeting my eye, "Right, and who might you be?"
"They say I am that of a mere mortal. But I would ensure you that no mortal could spend over half a millennia stuck in this very cell. However, time is different here rather than on Earth or Midgard... It would seem as if I was only gone for a decade rather than what reality makes it. But of course, you asked for my name, I'm Katerina."
I gave him a sadistic smile as I met his eyes before I laid down against the cold ground, levitating objects all while he watched me.
"What is it that you have done to end up here?"
"I was framed. Living a normal life on Earth. I had a family, sisters, and a brother, but they were all killed and murdered by the one you called father. All I wanted was to live, and that they granted. They changed me. I just don't know whether it was for the better or for worse."
He smirked and sat back in his bed as he tossed a cup in the air, "Well then, Katerina, you truly aren't worth my time."
I rolled my eyes and sat up, dropping the objects that were met with a clattering sounds as I warped my reality to that of finding peace in the cell.
Only moments later was sounds of struggle from a few cells over. I stood up and tried to see what the commotion was, only I saw nothing.
One by one, prisoners were set free and started escaping. One by one, cells were beginning to break.
Then the black figure stood in front of my cell as I was ready to be released, only it never came and the creature laughed in my face before doing the very same to Loki.
I banged on the barrier as I shouted for him to return, "YOU CAN'T LEAVE ME! NO! YOU CAN'T LEAVE ME!"
I fell to my knees as a blast of energy filled the space only to be contained as I grew angry.
Blasts of energy concentrated on the barrier only came back at me and threw me across the cell as I met the wall with an impact.
I groaned and shook my head as I fell, getting up to my knees once more.
Loki turned to me as I formed my cell into one of its former glory and not one of the damage I caused, "Well, well, well. Maybe you are worth more than you say after all. Maybe you are just a good little girl who has been made bad."
He watched me before I rolled my eyes, crossing my arms, "You shouldn't be too quick to judge, it's said that no one bad is ever truly bad. And no one good is ever truly good..."
I let out a sigh and dropped my head while he pulled out a book and sat down reading as the prisoners wreaked havoc beyond our barriers.
Only within a matter of seconds, Thor arrived and defeated each one as easily as blinking would have been.
The ground shook as the ceiling growled with power. Loki dropped his book standing up as he curiously listened to the destruction happening in the midst of Asgard.
He met my eye as I scoffed before he spoke, "They've returned."
