10 Shield Agents

"Tell me about the shooter."

Steve sighed and glanced at me through the reflection on the glass, "He's fast. Strong. Had a metal arm."

Another woman who identified as Hill, walked up to the glass as Natasha sighed, "Ballistics?"

"Three slugs, no rifling. Completely untraceable."

Natasha let out a breath, "Soviet-made."

As the doctors were beginning to struggle, they tried to find a pulse.

I leaned back as I looked up in silence. Steve turned and I stood up as he put his hand in mine. Once we were alone, Steve opened his hand, revealing the stick Nick had given him.

He handed me the stick and I nodded, putting it away as I waited for Steve and Natasha to say goodbye.

They then came out and I stood up behind Steve as she turned, "Why was Fury in your apartment?"

Steve glanced at me and then shrugged, "I don't know."

Another agent soon walked up, "Cap, they want you back at SHIELD."

"Yeah, give me a sec."

"They want you now."

"Okay."

The agent nodded and then left as Natasha smirked, "You're a terrible liar."

Once she left, Steve turned to me, "Keep that thing safe."

I nodded and he wrapped his arm around my shoulder as we approached the agents, "Let's go."

Arriving at SHIELD, Steve changed into his uniform as I simply flicked my wrist and I was wearing a similar uniform to Natasha only instead of leather it was comfortable, I didn't need to worry about bullets, I was bulletproof.

Not wanting to be recognized, I slipped a mask over half my face so there wouldn't be trouble.

I followed Steve down a hall, soon passing Kate.

"Captain Rogers."

"Neighbor."

I chuckled at his remark while I then felt another rush. Trying to figure it all out, my ears perked up at the repetitive question.

"Captain, why was Nick in your apartment last night?"

Glancing my way again, he only shook his head, "I don't know."

"Did you know it was bugged?"

"I did. Nick told me."

I walked behind Steve as I took a seat on the chair's arm while I turned to the man, "Did he tell you it was him who bugged it?"

There was a silence, and then Steve looked up at me. I thought for a moment before giving him a knowing look. He turned back to the man before us as I did.

"I want to show you something, but could Miss...?"

"Eriksen, sir."

"Miss Eriksen, would you mind stepping out?"

I let out a breath and nodded, standing up as I left, standing just outside the door.

Standing alone, Kate soon found me and walked up, "Hands up where I can see them."

She held me at gunpoint as I rolled my eyes, pulling down the mask, "I'd think twice before pulling an armed weapon on me."

"Is that a threat?"

"I don't know, do you want it to be?"

"Look, I was assigned to protect Captain Rogers. From anyone."

"I've known him longer than you've been alive. I'm like him only even more so enhanced, you could say. So, if you think that I'd harm him, you should watch your own back."

She met my eyes but before any more words could be exchanged, the door opened and Steve grabbed my hand, pulling me with him.

We walked to the elevator as I kept quiet, tuning everyone out as other agents had entered. More and more people began to enter as he kept his hand around mine.

I was getting a bad feeling as I reached my hand around his arm, growing anxious.

Moments later, I was pushed to the side as he fought every single one. They put some type of device around his arm, that held him in place for a bit before facing Rumlow, one on one.

After defeating them all, he grabbed my hand and we opened the doors, only to reveal more agents.

In a swift move, Steve broke the sidewall, dropping us even further down.

The next floor was beginning to swarm with armed men as Steve looked at me before looking out the window, "Can you lift me?"

"What?"

"Do you think you could at least, get me to the ground safely?"

I pressed against the glass and looked down, turning back to Steve, "Yeah. I can do it."

He nodded and soon charged into the glass, jumping as the doors behind us opened. I went to jump but my arm was grabbed as I sent a large energy blast, sending them all back as I lost my footing.

I fell into the sky, scaling the building before I turned so I faced the ground. I spotted Steve, and dove gaining speed before I balanced myself out along with Steve before we landed on the ground.

"That was a close one," Steve groaned and grabbed his motorbike as I jumped on behind him. We headed for the bridge only to be fired at and blocked by spikes.

Throwing his shield and jumping onto the vessel ship, he destroyed it as I took control of the motorbike before he jumped back. I smirked as he wrapped his arm around my waist as I drove us to the hospital.

I had put the stick in a place where I could later return when it was safe.

Only it was no longer there.
