22 Energy Waves

Stopping and running in place beside me, the newest addition looked at me, "You can see me?"

I nodded as Steve took out another group of guards before the man questioned me, "Wait, who are you?"

"I-" Stopping myself, Steve and Thor walked over to me while the man soon ran away.

"The enhanced?"

I rolled my eyes and flew over them before standing in between the two guys, "Oh, Thor. How unaware."

Steve grabbed my arm and pulled me to the side as he sighed, "He's a blur. All the new players we've faced, I've never seen this. In fact, I still haven't."

"I can see him. He's got silver hair and a hard accent."

"Clint's hit pretty bad, guys. We're gonna need evac."

I nodded as I turned to the guys, "You heard Nat."

"I can get Barton to the jet. The sooner we're gone the better. You, Kat, and Stark secure the scepter."

I took a step back as Steve nodded, turning to Thor, "Copy that."

"It looks like they're lining up."

"Well, they're excited."

I laughed as the boys got ready. Thor took a step back before running forward and pounding Steve's shield. The impact brought a shock wave as I sent another energy wave just behind it.

"Find the scepter."

Steve and I nodded as Thor flew away while Tony flew over our heads, "And for gosh sake, watch your language!"

Steve sighed as I held a smug smile across my face, "That's not going away anytime soon."

"Nope."

A larger group came at Steve and me, so concentrating, I sent another powerful wave of energy only to look away at the last second. I felt that familiar sensation I felt whenever Bucky was close.

Losing focus, the wave fell back and hit me, sending me back. I was thrown against a tree and soon losing consciousness.

"Kat! Katerina!"

My vision was beginning to blur as I held my head up barely meeting Steve's eyes, "Kat, don't you dare leave me! Katerina!"

I looked up at him as he picked me up and ran towards the guards as he fought his way through, all while keeping me close before I started fading in and out.

"Baron Strucker. Hydra's number one thug."

I couldn't see or move but I could hear everything, "Technically, I'm a thug for SHIELD."

"Well then technically you're unemployed. Where's Loki's scepter?" Emotions shooting through my head, I laid still in Steve's arm as he spoke to who seemed to be Strucker.

"Don't worry, I know when I'm beaten. You'll mention how I cooperated, I hope. Oh and I sure do hope your friend there will be okay."

"I'll put it right under illegal human experimentation. How many are there?"

I was then dropped as I was thrown against a wall, falling to the ground. After sounds of struggle I heard Steve's voice again, "We have a second enhanced. Female. Do not engage. Also, Thor, I need you to come and get Katerina. She's not doing okay."

"Copy that, Cap."

I opened my eyes and stood up, only to find myself in the cell once more. It wasn't real, I never left. I groaned as I threw a chair against the barrier, "Ahh, finally you're up."

I looked over to see Loki and I shook my head as I took a step back, "No, no you- you died. Loki, you died."

"How rude."

I watched, raising an eyebrow as he stood and simply balled his fists, throwing the chairs and other furniture against the walls of his cell.

"No, you're dead. I watched you die. Bucky and- and Steve- no they're all back on- on..."

I starting breathing heavily as I paced around the cell, trying to remember. I fell to my knees as I broke down in tears as I realized that nothing happened. It was all a dream, I never escaped.

I looked over to Loki who only watched me annoyed as I only shook my head, "You're dead, right? No, no, no, no..."

"I am clearly not dead. Enough with this nonsense!"

"No, we- we escaped. You, me, and Thor. We- we fought Malekith and then Thor took me back to-to..."

"STOP LYING, YOU CRETIN!"

He picked up a table and threw it my way only the barrier didn't stop it. I collided with the table and lost sight once more before snapping my head and sitting up.

Forcing my eyes open, I took in large amounts of air as I struggled to find a rhythm.

"Hey, hey, shhh. You're okay now."

I looked over to see Steve and I instantly wrapped my arms around him, "Loki! Where's- What happened?"

"You were hit with your own energy wave and then fell unconscious."

"So, that's what my power does. Scares people and tortures them?"

"What do you mean?"

I met his eyes and sighed, "I thought that everything I had done to escape was a dream, I thought I was back in that cell. I lost you and Bucky all over again. I- I-"

"Hey, no. You're safe. Safe and sound here with us. With me."

I gave him another hug as I calmed down before walking over to Clint on the next table over, still holding my side in pain as I smirked softly, "Took it hard didn't you, twinkle toes?"

He rolled his eyes and looked up at me, "Do you really insist on calling me these names?"

"Yes, twinkle toes, yes I do."

He smirked and shook his head as I reached over, placing my hand on his wound, "Hold still."

With a flick of my wrist, Clint bolted up as he let out a cry of pain before then feeling nothing as I raised an eyebrow, "You won't feel much until we land of course."

After he nodded, I simply found a corner to sit in and waited until we landed.
