39 The Ghost

I stood up, emotionless as I kicked Steve back. He quickly got to his feet and waved his hand in front of me, mouthing words before they finally registered.

"Kat! Kat, it's me! It's Steve! Kat, come on!"

I then threw another punch as I backed him up against the wall. He dodged my throws and soon pushed me back before I grabbed his arm and threw him into the elevator door. He blocked the next throw but I used my powers to lift him up and throw him back.

I then watched as he fell through the elevator shaft as I turned around, leaving.

Walking through the halls, I took out the agents and threw them down some stairs and against the walls.

I had my mission, Tony Stark.

I entered the main control room where I soon found him before beginning a fight with him. He instantly found his suit and began to fight back, "Eriksen! This isn't you! Katerina!"

Piece by piece, I pulled apart his suit with my powers before I walked up to him, as I held him in place, "You will pay for your sins, Tony Stark."

I held him up and just as I threw the final blow, walking towards him, I came up and brought down my fist as he fell back once more. Throwing a few more blows, I looked at him in rage as his face started to reveal bruised blotches as blood began to slowly flow from the minuscule cuts.

Running into the room, Sam tried to pull me back, "Kat! Stop!"

Snapping my head towards him, I pushed him back before he got up and he slowly walked closer, "Katerina, you have a family. You are so close to getting him back, don't do this."

"Must finish the mission."

"Think- think of Lina! Little Angelina! Think of her! She's your daughter, your family!"

Hearing the name, something snapped as I let go of Tony with eyes widened. I looked down at my hands before falling back in my steps.

As Tony slowly got up, covering his face as he stumbled, Sam wasted no time and grabbed my arm before pulling me behind him. I still couldn't figure out what I had done, but I followed Sam until we arrived at a warehouse, finding Bucky and Steve.

I turned to Steve as Sam and I then walked in, "Hey, Cap!"

We walked over to him before he turned towards us and cautiously looked over me, "Is it you?"

"It's me, Stripes."

I nodded slowly before he sighed then pulled me into a tight hug, "What happened?"

"I don't know, but I want to figure it out myself."

I stayed in the hug for a little longer before we then turned to another voice, "Were you ever under HYDRA lock and key?"

Letting go of Steve, I turned to Bucky as I furrowed my brows, "What?"

"HYDRA. Did they ever control you?"

"I don't think so. I was with HYDRA only for a little bit according to Vision. But I've been trapped in a cell for most of my life, and it wasn't on planet earth."

"Well, those 'words' he recited, it's like a switch that takes over the mind. You can't control it, you can only comply. It's how they run things."

"I- I don't get it."

Steve shook his head and walked up beside me before looking down at Bucky, "Which Bucky am I talking to?"

"Your mom's name was Sarah. You used to wear newspapers in your shoes."
