"He'd probably hate that we do this every year." Fuyumi chuckled as she laid a yellow daisy on Touya's grave.

Every year you had gone with her to his gravesite to show your respects and place a single flower each. This year Natsuo had declined the invitation and Shoto was busy at school so he told Fuyumi he would go later. Endeavor had stopped going years ago...

You chuckled with her as you formed a single flower from light. It had become a tradition at this point. "Maybe. I think he'd appreciate it that we still remember him and show our respects. But the flowers? He'd probably hate them." You shrugged.

Fuyumi sniffled and rubbed the back of her hand across her cheek. You hugged her tight and rubbed her back before holding her at arm's length. "Hey, it's ok. He will never be forgotten."

She nodded and adjusted her glasses. "I know. It's just kind of sad. Sometimes I wonder what he would have been like, ya know?" She was staring at the engraved headstone and her eyes were full of thought.

You nodded and sighed. "Yeah, me too."

"I bet you guys would have ended up dating." She laughed and it almost sounded out of place at the cemetery.

"What?" Your eyes snapped to her. "Oh come on, Fuyumi. It was a little childhood crush." You waved your hand dismissively.

"I know, I just like to tease you about it." She turned away from the grave and the two of you started to walk back to her car.

She began to drive in the direction of home. The two of you had shared an apartment for the last two years. She was your best friend since you were kids. Fuyumi had been there for you through the stresses of your hero courses at UA. You had been there for her as a support system when she was tasked with caring for her younger brothers. You both had supported each other through break-ups, new jobs, graduations, the good, the bad, and the ugly too. And now she was working to help her brothers repair their relationship with their father. You were a little skeptical, but working with the Endeavor hero agency, you had to admit you had seen some changes in his attitude as of late.

Your phone rang and cut through your thoughts. You pulled it from your pocket and looked at the screen. It was work. "Hello?" You answered. Your face fell as you listened to what the dispatcher was telling you. "Understood. I'll be there soon." You ended the call and climbed into the back seat. You unzipped your small black backpack that was sitting in the floorboard and pulled out your hero costume.

Fuyumi pulled the car over to the side of the road. This wasn't the first time you'd been called out to a mission when you were together. "Is it something bad?"

"I'm not sure yet. All they know right now is that some villains are attacking a lab just outside the city. Your dad is already on his way there." You had pulled on your uniform for hero work. It was a white bodysuit decorated with golden streaks bursting from a circle shape on your torso that resembled a sun. You slipped into your golden boots and laced them up tight. You pulled your hair back into a white and golden ribbon to keep it out of your face and looped your communication device around your ear and settled in place.

"Be careful!" Fuyumi shouted after you as you climbed out of the car.

You nodded to her before forming a set of wings out of light to bring you to the sight of the crime. You took off into the sky and quickly found the lab that was under attack. As you landed, you dissolved the wings and joined the other heroes that were already on site fighting against the villains.

"Beacon!" A booming voice called to you. Endeavor ran over to you and shot a burst of flames behind him. "It's the league. We think they're trying to kidnap a scientist to help them create more of their nomu."

"Got it." You formed two swords out of light and began fighting against thugs that were trying to swarm you.

Endeavor ran off after someone and you looked around to help anyone who needed it. There was a female lab tech running from the building. She was being chased by a crazed man holding a knife. You ran in her direction and formed a wall out of light that rose up in front of the assailant. He ran into it and fell back. The woman was able to get away and you picked up the thug by the front of his shirt.

A gust of wind sent your hair flying wildly even pulled back. "I'll take him, kid." Hawks' smooth voice said next to you. His feathers carried the villain away and he took off into the sky again.

You ran into the laboratory and saw frightened people hiding underneath desks or in locked rooms with large windows. "Come with me! I'll get you to safety." They slowly came from their hiding places and you helped them get out of the building.

"Wait! They went in there!" A man stopped as he ran past you. He pointed to the back of the room that led into a hallway. It was dark except for a few blinking red lights on the wall. "They knocked out the lights back there. Be careful, Beacon!"

You nodded and thanked him. You gripped each sword tightly and dimmed their glow so you wouldn't alert the villains to your presence. The sound of your footsteps was silenced as you moved with stealth. You approached what looked like an office and saw a dull purple glow around the doorframe. Voices were coming from behind the door. It sounded like someone was being interrogated and threatened. You reached up and pressed a button on the communicator in your ear.

"Beacon reporting. I'm inside the building. There seems to be someone trapped inside an office. Possible hostage situation." You kept your voice low.

The click of footsteps appeared behind you and you froze. You slowly turned to see who was coming up on you and dove out of the way when a blast of blue flames shot past you.

"Nice reflexes. Bet you can't do that again!" A deep and raspy voice shouted from down the hallway.

Another ball of flames came towards you. It was too fast. You formed a shield in front of you and the fire fizzled out when it made contact causing the man to chuckle lowly.

"Fight me head-on, you coward." You charged at him. One of your swords slashed through the air and he dodged the blow.

His arm caught your elbow and he tossed you against the wall. It knocked the air from your lungs and you gasped trying to catch your breath. The shock of the blow broke your concentration and your swords faded from their physical form. Before you could get up, he was pinning you to the wall, pressing his arm into your chest. You grunted and threw a punch at him. It connected with his jaw, but he didn't let go of you.

"Feisty... That always makes things more fun."

The man lit up the dark hallway with another fireball in his hand. The glow of his blue flames lit his features and you saw his face. He had spiked black hair with burn scars under his eyes and along his jaw, stretching down his neck and to his chest. The charred parts of his skin were connected to the rest of his face with what looked like staples. He had piercings on his nose and decorating his ears. Your eyes settled on his and you gasped. They were practically glowing in the light of his flames. There was no mistaking that turquoise hue.

"T-Touya?" Your voice was barely above a whisper. "Is that you?"

His eyes widened and the flame in his hand went out. He relaxed his hold on you and pulled back a little.

"What happened to your face?" You reached for his face and he flinched away from you, releasing his grip. Just like he had when you were kids... "I don't understand... How-"

He punched you in the side of your face and you fell to the ground unconscious.
