"Hey."

You pushed the food around on your plate and stared into nothing. Your chest heaved with a heavy sigh as you got lost in looking at nothing. The thoughts were racing through your mind at a million miles a minute with no sign of stopping. There was nothing to put you at ease. All of your thoughts were consumed with worry, questioning, and shadowing by doubt and regret.

"Y/N, snap out of it," the disgruntled voice coaxed you from your thoughts.

Your head snapped up and you dropped your fork onto the plate, causing a slight clattering. Hawks looked at you across the table with furrowed brows. His hand was sitting on top of yours with a gentle grasp. His concern was painted all over his face. He pulled back his hand and sighed, eyes still locked on your face.

"Hey, are you all right?"

The two of you had been getting lunch regularly since discovering he was working with your boyfriend and the league. He was the only person that you could talk to, confide in, and ask questions pertaining to the group. The two of you had grown quite close lately and you were thankful for his friendship and his presence in moments like this.

"Do you know where he is?" Your voice sounded so small.

He clears his throat and his eyes shift around the room a little. Your eyes practically beg him for even a sliver of information. You hadn't spoken to Dabi since the night in your apartment when he told you he'd have to go away for a while. The next morning he had kissed you softly before slipping out the door without a word. The red glow of your alarm clock informed you it was four in the morning. You sat up a little in bed, but your body was exhausted and your mind was still foggy from sleep, so you settled back into bed and fell back to sleep. But since then...nothing.

"No," Keigo grumbled. "I haven't heard from any of them since a few days after the events in Camino. The commission is getting tired of my excuses and lack of information, too." He sighs.

You nod and pick at your nails underneath the table. "I just can't help but feel like something is wrong. All he told me was that he had to go away for a while, but he didn't tell me why or where he was going."

He nods and props his elbow onto the table, placing his chin into his hand.

"What if...what if he decided I'm not worth the risk or the trouble," you say with a shaky exhale.

"Woah, Y/N. Stop thinking like that. He loves you, kid. He told me so himself...and as you know he's not one for big words and feelings like that," he chuckles.

You scoff and shake your head, trying to get yourself together. You know he's right, but you can't stop thinking about the shift between you when the possibility of a baby came across the table. Maybe he had decided to take this chance to run away and never look back.

The waitress comes to the table and asks if the two of you need anything. Keigo asks for the check and offers to pay for your lunch as well. You nod and thank him while he pulls out his wallet and pays the bill. The two of you leave the little bistro and walk a little way down the street. His golden eyes flicker over to you several times.

"Ok, look," he says with a stern tone, suddenly stopping in front of you. "Stop thinking all that doom and gloom shit. I'm sure they had a reason for going underground. Maybe they're just trying to lay low after what happened in Camino." He shrugs. "But get out of your own head. That crispy asshole loves you. You make each other happy...even if the circumstances are tough. He's not just going to give up on you." He sighs and shakes his head. "You've known him since the two of you were kids. Has he ever given up on something he wants without a fight?"

You shake your head and grin a little. His words cause your heart to flutter a little in your chest. He was completely right. Touya always pushed himself far beyond his limits to make something happen if he truly wanted it. He had told you on more than one occasion that he wanted to be with you, no matter what.

I will burn the world to make it so, little light.

His echoed words in your head offered you comfort but also fill you with even more questions. Is that why he was away? Is that what he was doing?

The flutter and rustle of wings snap you out of your thoughts again. Hawks lowers his safety glasses over his face and winks at you with a smile. You grin at your friend and try to put on a happy face.

"Just try and stay positive, ok? I've gotta get back to the agency. Catch ya later, kid," he nods and takes off into the sky.

You take in a deep breath and form your own wings on your back. The radiant light sparkles in the sun, causing a few civilians to gasp and point in your direction after their attention is caught and brought off of Hawks. A young girl smiles and says your hero name, pulling on the sleeve of a boy standing next to her. You nod to her and give a soft wave before taking off.

After the hero bulletin, you'd only continued to gain fame in the world of heroes. Endeavor had taken you on more missions and patrols lately which had brought more attention to you and your name. The news outlets were calling you a new hopeful in the rising ranks of young heroes. The thought occurred to you that maybe that was another reason Dabi was staying away.

He had mentioned not wanting to tarnish your name and reputation as a hero. Even after the constant reassurance to him that you didn't care. Of course, you loved being a hero, but being with him was ultimately what you wanted. You even wondered if getting him a second chance was a possibility. He had wanted to be a hero once, too...

You landed in front of the Endeavor hero agency and let your wings evaporate from your body, the light retreating back into the air around you. You walked in and went to your office. Before you could cross the threshold of the doorway, a hand gripped your shoulder. You turned and looked up into the face of Endeavor.

"Y/N, would you join me on patrol this afternoon?" He nodded behind him and you saw Shoto standing there, toe scuffing a tear in the carpet in front of him. "I was hoping for some assistance in showing Shoto how to form objects with his quirk. You are very well versed in that area with your own quirk so I think he could learn much from you."

You blinked at him a few times. Endeavor wanted your help for training Shoto? That was unusual for him to admit someone else might be better than himself in an area of training...especially with his own son.

"Um, sure. No problem, sir," you murmured.

He nodded and released his grip on you, walking towards his office. "Good. Join us in twenty minutes."

"Yes, sir."

Shoto took a few steps forward and nodded to you. You smiled at him softly.

"Thank you for offering your help, Beacon. You have been a great influence in hero society lately. I have much that I can learn from you," the young boy stated in his matter-of-fact tone.

You chuckled and smiled a little wider. "It's my pleasure, Shoto. I look forward to showing you some new tricks."

He walked past you in the direction of his father's office. You turned to your own office to sort a few things while you waited on the two of them.

The chime of your phone drew your attention. You sighed and grabbed it from your desk. The screen lit up and showed the notification. You gasped and almost dropped it.

Dabi: Are you busy tomorrow night? I think I can slip away and I want to see you.
