When you wake up the next morning, you breathe in Dabi's scent and smile. You reach out for him, eyes still closed. Your fingers spread out over the soft sheets and are met with an empty space.

You sit up quickly and look around the room frantically. The bathroom is empty. You jump out of bed and throw open your bedroom door. As you rush down the hallway, your heart pounds in your chest.

You turn the corner to the kitchen and come to a halt.

Dabi is standing in the kitchen wearing nothing but his boxers from last night, a small bloodstain in the waistband. He's slathering butter on some toast while eggs sizzle on the stove in a frying pan. Steam rises from the two coffee mugs on the countertop.

You blink at him, unable to speak. He turns around and freezes. The visible tension in his body relaxes when he sees you standing there. He leans back against the countertop and smirks at you.

"Good morning," he chuckles.

"I-um...g-good morning?"

He laughs and walks over to you. He wraps you in a hug and pulls you into his bare chest. The familiar heat of him calms you a little. He kisses you on top of the head and pulls back.

"Don't worry. She left. Won't be back for a while."

Touya motions to a note on the fridge underneath a magnet and goes back to the stove. You immediately recognize Fuyumi's handwriting.

"I've got some errands to run this morning! Let's catch lunch if you're free. -Love ya!"

You shake your head and pinch the bridge of your nose. Touya rubs the back of his neck a little and clears his throat. You look over at him. He's looking down at the food he's plated for the two of you.

"I don't know how you like your coffee," he mumbles.

You smile at him and giggle a little. You walk over and give him a passionate kiss. His hands rub at your waist and he kisses you back.

"I'll show you," you smile.

The two of you sit at the counter and eat your breakfast. He looks around the apartment, not saying much. When you speak he responds appropriately. You raise a brow at him and sip your coffee.

"What is it?"

He glances over at you and sighs. "We still need to talk...about a lot." He rubs his hands over his face and then sets them in his lap.

"You're right, we do. But we don't have to do that now if you're not ready," you say softly.

He glances at you and smiles when he sees you looking at him with such kind and considerate eyes. He sighs and takes a sip from his coffee mug. His jaw clenches a little as he sits there, staring at the countertop.

"We should do it now. I don't know when I'll be able to see you again," he mumbles.

Your eyes widen a little. "What do you mean?"

He gets up from the counter and walks to your living room that occupies the same space in your apartment as the kitchen. Dabi grabs the remote to the television and clicks it on. The screen flashes images of destruction. Rescue heroes and first responder crews are cleaning up the best they can, clearing rubble from the area that was once Kamino Ward. You gasp and your hand covers your mouth.
