"Beacon!"

Your eyes fluttered open at the sound of your name. Someone was gripping your shoulders and shaking you. Your eyes landed on Hawks' face. You moved to sit up and he stood back.

"Hey kid, you ok?"

You looked around the room wildly, remembering what had happened. "Wait, where did he go?" You jumped to your feet and start searching the hallway.

Endeavor and a couple of other heroes you work with walked out of the office at the end of the hallway. He nods to you as he walks past. "Good to see you on your feet again."

"Oh, um. Yes sir." You shake your head and try to focus on what's going on. "Did we get them?" You follow after him.

"Not the ones we needed." He continued to walk, looking forward as he did. "They took the scientist you heard in the office."

You felt ashamed. They got away because you got distracted. But was it really him? He was...dead. It couldn't be him, right?

"Yes sir, I'm...I'm sorry. I got into a fight and they overtook me."

He grunted and stopped. He turned to face you as you all reached the front of the building. "Next time don't go in alone."

You nodded and rubbed the back of your neck as you looked away from him. He walked away with one of the other heroes following after him.

"Are you ok, Beacon? That bruise looks nasty." Hydra-Girl, the only other heroine that worked with Endeavor had stayed behind with you. She was tall and slender with short blue hair and green eyes. Her hero uniform was a green bodysuit that resembled a mermaid's scale pattern and she had a face mask with fins that flared out on the side of her face.

You rubbed your jaw. Until she mentioned it, you hadn't even registered the soreness there. "Oh, yeah. I'll be all right."

Footsteps came up behind you and you turned to see Hawks walking up. "From the looks of it, you took a beating. I'm sure you gave it right back to them though, huh?" He winked.

Hydra-Girl giggled and you gave a light chuckle. "I definitely held my own until he put me in the dirt."

He nodded. "He? So you saw who it was?"

"Yeah, I did. But um...it's a little fuzzy now. All I remember is he had black hair and scars all over him. And he had a fire quirk."

"That sounds like the villain Dabi." His tone darkened. "He's dangerous. It's a good thing all you got was knocked out."

You laughed nervously and nodded. "Lucky me, I guess." You and Hydra-Girl walked over to Endeavor to join the heroes from your agency.

He instructed each of you to return to the agency to fill out your reports of the incident. You left with them and arrived after a short drive. When you arrived you went to your desk and began to write out what had happened.

You sat back and stared at the computer screen. What should I say about him? You had told Hawks a partial truth. The events of the fight were a little fuzzy, but you remembered his face perfectly. You could never forget those eyes...but they were different now. They were so full of anger and darkness... You ran your hands through your hair and sighed.

"What happened to him?"

"To who?" A soft male voice drew your attention.

You looked up and saw Shoto standing next to your desk. You offered him a smile and sat up in your office chair. "Hey, Shoto. No one...just um, worried about the scientist that got kidnapped today." You lied. If it was Touya, you wanted to be absolutely sure.
