News of All Might's retirement from being the number one hero had pushed Endeavor to the number one spot. He was unhappy with receiving the title by default, but Fuyumi insisted on celebrating anyway. A few days later, Fuyumi arranged another family dinner at the Todoroki home.

The two of you stood in the kitchen along with your sister and prepared dinner for the family. Shoto and Natsuo helped get the table set up while you cooked the food. There was tense energy throughout the house as Enji hid away. The occasional scream of frustration would float down the hallway to all of you. Fuyumi's eyes would glance toward the sound before she nervously chuckled and turned her attention back to working in the kitchen. You and Kyoko tried to keep your heads down and focus on the food preparation.

When it was prepared, you helped bring the dishes to the table with Kyoko. Fuyumi walked down the hallway to bring her father to dinner. She reappeared in the dining room with a sheepish grin. You raised a brow at her, prompting your best friend to clear her throat and lean over the table.

"He's not in a great mood, but please let's try and have a nice dinner together," she whispered.

Natsuo rolled his eyes and shook his head. Kyoko caressed his arm gently and gave him a soft smile. He sighed and kissed her on top of the head before readjusting on the cushion he sat on. Shoto glanced around the table not saying anything, but you could see the uncertainty painted across his features.

Endeavor walked into the dining room and looked across the table. He gave a curt nod to everyone before taking a seat at the end of the table.

"Thanks for coming, dad. I hope you're hungry!" Fuyumi's cheery voice broke the silence in the room.

He grumbled a little before thanking her. He leaned forward and began to fill his plate with food. Slowly and silently, everyone served themselves and began to eat. The silence in the room was filled with an unspoken awkward energy nobody wanted to address. You and Kyoko kept stealing glances at each other.

"So Y/N, did you get a report of where you will fall in the rankings?" Enji's deep voice breaks the silence.

You look up at him across the table, chewing a bite of food. You swallow and blink at him a few times. He stares at you in silence. When you don't respond, he raises a brow at you.

"Oh, I did," you say quickly. "I ranked number 43, which is pretty good I guess. I've never really placed much importance on that. I do my job, I save people, and I don't do either because of the numbers. I'm a hero because I care about keeping people safe and giving them assurance in living their lives without being afraid." You shrug and continue eating dinner.

Endeavor hums and nods a little. "I see."

He continues to eat without saying anything. The table falls silent again. You look at Fuyumi and see that she's glancing back and forth between you and her father with a nervous look. Natsuo sighs and your sister grips his arm tightly, mumbling something low to him.

"No," Natsuo breaks the silence. "No, your sister is right. It shouldn't matter. It's just a number! Heroes should be more worried about keeping people safe instead of being the best, the strongest, or whatever." He slams his fork onto the table and turns towards his father. "But it's never been about that for you, has it, dad?"

"Natsuo!" Fuyumi's eyes are filled with worry as she tries to calm her brother's outburst.

"I understand your frustrations with me, son," Enji grumbles as he stares down at his plate.

Natsuo slams his fist onto the table and gets to his feet. Kyoko gasps and covers her mouth.
Shoto sighs in his seat beside you and sits back at the table. Enji looks up at his son, his jaw clenched.
