Chapter 9 "A bond that is unbreakable"

Lucy POV

I got to school and couldn't help but think that something was bothering my mom other than finding out that her daughter was hiding a boy in her room. I shook off the feeling and smiled when I saw Levy by her locker. As soon as she saw my face, she surprised me in a hug and started crying.

"Why are you crying?"

"I was worried, dumb ass." I laughed and hugged her back.

"Do I get a hug, too?"

I turned around and saw Natsu. He was wearing black jeans and a perfect fitting white t-shirt that says 'I Almost Gave A Fuck' in red letters with white and red converses. His bangs were held back by bobby pins.

"Hey..."

"Hey, so do I get a hug, too."

"No."

"Oh, come on, please?"

"I said, no."

"Why? Last night, you-" I put my hand over his mouth and gave him the darkest glare I could and whispered into his ear.

"Never. I mean, never speak of THAT at school. Are we clear?"

He smirked at me not even a little bit shaken which was the opposite of everyone around us reactions who shivered at my cold atmosphere. "I understand perfectly, Ms. Heartfilia."

I huffed and glared at him one more time. "Levy and I will be heading to class now if you don't mind."

I grabbed Levy's hand and ran to class without sparing a single glance back at Natsu, even though I really wanted to. Levy kept quiet all the way there so I looked over at her and noticed she looked a little down. I stopped walking and Levy looked up confused.

"Why did you stop?"

"Levy, I'm sorry!!!"

"Why are you-"

"I don't know what I did but I noticed you looked sad all of a sudden and I realized I must have did something." She stared at me and tears filled up in her eyes and ran down her cheeks.

She didn't waver when she started crying. She kept her voice strong and her head up. "You aren't around a lot anymore."

"Levy, I-" She cut me off.

"You're distant lately. You had your phone cut off the day that I needed you." Tears ran faster down her cheeks. I saw the hurt flash through her eyes.

"Levy, why didn't you say anything? You acted like everything was alright the next morning and today."

"You don't understand, do you?"

"I don't understand what?"

"Erza and I were worried sick about you!!! You don't show up for the rest of the damn school day with a boy who just transferred into our class and you don't send a single damn text to tell us if you're okay then you expect us to brush the shit off like its nothing."

I stood speechless and completely stunned. Levy never cussed this much unless she was pissed off and I didn't realize until now how much damage I've done.

"Erza and I went to look for you right after school," She started.

I noticed how she lowered her voice and her voice shook. I reached out to touch her but she slapped my hand away.

"Let me finish, Lucy."

"Okay.."

"We went to search for you. We went to your house and your mom said you weren't home but we didn't tell her what happened at school. We," She took a deep breath. "We were going to go back around town until we ran into some trouble."

She took a shaky breath and began to speak again.

"A gang of boys happened to see us on the streets. I had gotten a bad feeling right before one of the boys grabbed my arm. When Erza had realized what was going on, she was already in her dangerous mode." She began to laugh to herself as if it were really funny.

"I couldn't defend myself as well as Erza could. She managed to take a few down with her bare hands but the rest had weapons. I tried to call the police but they put me on hold so I called you but you didn't pick up."

I felt like I had just been punched in the gut repeatedly. She had called me for help and I had turned my phone off just so I could have fun with Natsu. How selfish was I?

"A boy threw my phone from my hands and smashed it. He put a knife to my neck and told Erza to surrender. She did it for me because I was stupid enough not to defend myself. They had her on the ground and so was I. We tried so hard until we got tired. They tied us together back to back and surrounded us like predators going in for a kill. Before they could even get close enough for me to feel their breath. We were saved."

I was crying and kept repeating 'I'm sorry'. Levy began to cry harder and I hugged her. We sat on the ground crying and hugging like little kids. We didn't notice Erza standing there with tears streaming down her face with a proud smile. I don't know how long we sat there but Erza finally spoke and told us to get to class before we missed our 3rd block.

We ran to class hand in hand. "You know, I didn't want to make it sound like I blamed you but I guess I did."

"I felt like I was being scolded by my mother."

"I just wanted you to know so, is girl night still on?"

"Absolutely." I hugged her before we went to our different classes. Our bond that Erza, Levy, and I have is unbreakable. I'll make sure that from now on that them and my family comes first even before...
