Lucy POV
"Hey sweetie, how are you feeling?"
"I need something to drink."
My mom got up and handed me the cup of water on the side desk beside the hospital bed. I took a couple gulps of water and stared into my lap. My mom sighed and shifted in her seat.
"I know you want to ask."
"Ask what?"
"Where Natsu is."
"If he isn't here, then he isn't here. He'll be here whenever he can." I said calmly.
"Lucy, its been days. Didn't you think that maybe something...happened?" My mom whispered.
My head snapped in her direction and my eyes narrowed. "What do you mean?"
She sighed. "Natsu told us everything that happened. The real story."
I looked back down at my lap. "Can you answer this?"
"What?"
"Why didn't you just stay away from him if you knew he was involved in something like that?"
"Because that would mean I would have to stay away from myself and that's impossible, isn't it?"
"What do you mean?" My mom said with concerned eyes.
"It means...I'm not the perfect little girl you imagined I was nor an innocent one. I never was."
I looked away from her gaze and turned out the window. "Continue, what else happened?"
"Your father thought that he was trouble and you shouldn't be around him any longer. So he told him that when you wake, he has to go."
I clenched my fists and gritted my teeth angrily. "So he just agreed to do it?"
"Well, he never verbally agreed but he did what he was told. The whole thing took a toll on him, though. He was a mess the first month and the rest of the time he was just numb to everything."
I was quiet and then I tried to get off of the bed but legs still weren't working right.
"Woah, woah, woah. Where are you going?"
"I want to see him."
"No, I'll take you to go see him when you get better."
I settled back into the bed and glared at her. She glared back and I huffed then turned away.
"I'm serious. Wait, until you get better."
"Where are the others?"
"They're in school right now but they should be getting out about now. When they get home they should come over."
"Alright."
----------------------------------
Seeing everyone put me in a better mood. After all, I missed my friends. When they heard that I had woken up, they dropped everything and headed to the hospital. I was relaxing in my hospital room, eating the food Levy cooked me and watching television, after coming back from my leg therapy class. Levy, Erza, and Juvia were the only ones left in the room with me.
"Lucy, are you okay?" Erza said as she turned off the tv.
"Yeah, I'm fine."
"We're all concerned about you because of Natsu and everything."
"I'm fine."
"We just want to help, Lucy."
"You know Natsu acted like this at one point before he cut us off completely."
"He cut you off?"
"Yeah, just shut himself off from everybody."
"The gang has been suffering without him. I mean, Gray and the others can handle it but it's just not the same."
"Its just plain gloomy."
The fact that Natsu's presence affected the gang so much is amazing but for Natsu to act like this is unacceptable.
"You guys want to help me, right?"
"Yeah." Levy said while Erza and Juvia nodded.
"Then help me escape this hospital."
Juvia jumped up with a big grin on her face. "Alright!!! This is the Lucy I know."
Erza and Levy reluctantly agreed but Levy was still a bit sceptical.
"Let's go."
Erza lifted me up on my feet and put my arm around her shoulder. Juvia took the lead and Levy stayed close behind. We had made it to the end of the hallway when we hear the sound of heels coming down the hallway. I saw an elevator and nodded in the direction of it. We ran and pressed the first floor button. The main floor was busy as usual so we tried to sneak around the bunch of people but then we heard a shout.
"Hey!"
We turned around slowly and looked at the person.
"Have a nice night!!!"
We nodded frantically and escaped through the doors. Juvia unlocked the doors to the car and we all got in. For a few minutes, we all sat in silence and we could only hear the sounds of our ragged breathing. We looked at each other and burst out laughing.
"I thought that we were done for."
"I missed doing things like this. I missed the thrill of an adrenalin rush." I said with a smile on my face.
"I'm glad that made you smile. All I've seen you do since woke up is frown." Levy said with a hint of a smile on her face.
I looked to Erza and then to Juvia. "I'm sorry if I worried you guys. I wont do it again."
"Well, at least, we know that you will be doing it again because no matter what you say, you will worry us someway or somehow."
Juvia started up the car and drove out the parking lot. The car ride was silent until she stopped the car in front of Natsu's house. I opened the car door and jumped out but right before I closed the door Juvia called my name.
"Yeah?"
"Its up to you now. Bring our friend back." She said as she looked me straight in the eye.
I nodded. Levy gave me a thumbs up and Erza gave me an encouraging smile. I stepped away from the car as the car drove out of my sight. I walked up to the door and suddenly I was aware of the brisk air and hugged myself to keep warm. I reached out my shaking hand to knock on the door. When abruptly the door swung open. There stood Natsu but he looked different. He looked like he was dead inside. He looked sickly pale, he didn't even bother with his hair, and his eyes were dull. He didn't even notice me there until I called his name.
"Natsu?"
