Lucy POV
I walked past my dad on the steps and into the house. He followed me and shut the door behind him. I grabbed an apple from the island in the middle of the kitchen and turned around to face him.
"Merry Christmas." I said as I bit into my apple.
He sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose. "There's no point in fighting you, is there?"
"Nope." I leaned against the counter and bit into my apple again. My dad must have spotted the ring on my finger and his eyes widened. He opened his mouth to say something but the doorbell rang.
"I'll get it." I mumbled and glided past him, towards the door.
I opened the door and the girl I hoped to never see again was standing with a bright smile on her face.
"What the hell are you doing here?" I said as I eyed her warily.
"I came to say hi and I have something to show you." Her smile didn't leave her face.
"How did you find out where I live? How do you even know who I am?"
"Well, I should know everything about the girl Natsu is so infatuated with." Her smile faltered a little but her smile came back even brighter. Damn, I should go ahead and put her in a box and call her Barbie.
"You said you have something to show me?"
"Oh yeah, I almost forgot. But we might wanna sit down for this." She said as she slowly turned serious.
I eyed her one more time before I let her in. My dad walked in and smiled at me. "Another one your friends?" I glanced at him. "She's not my friend." I walked upstairs and opened the door for her.
"Nice room." She said as she examined it. I crossed my arms and leaned against the wall.
"What do you want, Lisanna?" I said, getting down to business.
She sighed as her facade came off of her face. "Well, as I've heard you've been in a coma for awhile."
"Yeah. Get to the point, Lisanna. I hate the thought of you being in my house longer than you should."
"Fine, Lucy." She hissed. "You should know I hate your guts. You stole the one thing that I ever loved. If you hadn't came along, we probably would have gotten back together. But it seems that he wouldn't be happy anyway."
"Continue." I said impatiently.
"I asked him to come see me while you were in a coma." If she wanted to grab my attention, she certainly did. "I thought that we could heal each other. I mean, I was hurting because of Natsu and Natsu was hurting because he almost lost you. My plan was perfect but..." She looked into her lap.
"When I kissed him, he looked like he was seriously hurting. He was hurting so much that he had to get away from me." The ends of my mouth twitched but I refrained myself from smiling. "He loves you so damn much." She said sourly.
"Uh, thank you for telling me the real version." She grimaced.
"Don't thank me because I came to tell you a fake version but my resolve weakened as I thought about it. He would hate me even more if I did." She said softly.
The door bell suddenly rang repeatedly and we looked at each other. "That must be him." I raised an eyebrow.
"Natsu?" Her lips raised up into a genuine smile.
"I may have teased him a little bit before I came here." I ran down the steps as Lisanna followed and opened the door.
"Hello." I said with a smile on my face. He looked worried and looked in my eyes for any speck of anger. But when he didn't find any he answered.
"Hey..."
Lisanna pushed her way past us and out the door. Natsu didn't look surprised at all just...confused. She turned around and nodded at me. I gave her a small smile and then she left.
"I'm guessing that she told you." I nodded then opened the door further so he could come in.
"Then everything is fine?" I walked into the kitchen and got some coco mix from the cabinet.
"You want some hot chocolate?" He nodded and watched me. I grabbed two cups and put them on the counter. I ripped the packets open violently and he flinched.
"What did I do now?" I glared at him then took the boiling pot off of the stove.
"What you didn't do is the problem. Your ex- girlfriend came to tell me something that you should have been told me," He tried to say something but I kept talking. "Even though nothing happened, I still expect you to tell me things like this. That's where trust and communication comes into a relationship, Natsu."
"Yeah, you're right. I should have told you but there were so many things going on at the time. I didn't bother and I eventually forgot about it. Then, here she comes ruining my content Christmas with the girl I love so damn much." I handed his mug to him and then sat at the island. It was quiet. I blew into my mug and smiled. This Christmas turned out to be so eventful. I spent the day with my friends, Natsu gave me a promise ring, Natsu's ex showed up at my door, and now here is Natsu and I sitting in my kitchen drinking hot chocolate.
I caught Natsu looking at me out the corner of my eye. "What?"
He smiled softly. "I can see this in the future. You and I sitting in the kitchen in our own house. A few years after that, there will be kids running around the house. We'd watch them grow as we get older. Then many years after that, I'll be waking up to you, gray hair and all."
He locked his eyes with me and I lost my breath. His eyes held so much emotion in them. "I see my future with you. Nobody else. I want to build my future with you, create a family with you, I want to watch our children grow with you, and most of all I want to grow old with you. But the question is: Will you let me?"
My eyes widened in surprise. "Of course, you idiot. I want you in my future as well. We already made that promise." Natsu reached over to me and stroked my cheek. I smiled at him and couldn't help but feel overwhelmingly happy.
"I'll give you my blessing." Natsu and I looked towards the door and saw my dad standing there.
"Dad..." I whispered. He had just gave us his blessing. He looked at me and smiled. Then he turned his attention back to Natsu.
"You prove to be an alright young man but if you ever put her in harms way again, I will hunt you down." He said as he narrowed his eyes at Natsu.
"Thank you so much." Natsu beamed at him.
"Welcome to the family." My father couldn't help but smile.
It had felt that everything had fell into place. The puzzle was now complete. I couldn't keep the grin off my face for the rest of the night. Even when I went to sleep that night, I had a smile on my face. I just knew my cheeks were going to hurt in the morning. But it didn't matter. I was happy.
