Chapter 31 "Christmas Eve"

Lucy POV

Christmas. The most magical time of the year. And after that comes New Years and the year is over. I sat by the window and blew on a cup of hot chocolate. I just got released this morning but the news hasn't reached anybody yet because everybody is in school.

I sighed and pressed my head against the glass. Today was Christmas Eve and I had everybody's but Natsu's gift. I just didn't know what to get him. I closed my eyes and sighed again. Then, there was my dad. I'm going to give him a piece of my mind when I see him. He can't keep me away from Natsu just because he doesn't want me around him. I'm dating him not my dad.

I heard the front door open then shut and I opened my eyes immediately. I was still on high alert even though the incident happened months ago. My dad came around the corner and my gaze hardened. Speak of the devil and he shall appear. He smiled at me but I grabbed my hot chocolate and walked upstairs.

"Lucy." I stopped while my hand was resting on my doorknob.

"What?"

"Can we talk about this, please?" He said with pleading eyes.

"What is there to talk about?" I said squeezing the doorknob in anger.

"About that troublesome boy that you are so smitten with." He said with distaste.

"He has a name." I was squeezing the doorknob harder. If I didn't stop, I would break it off of the door.

"I know but I don't care, do I?" He was starting to get frustrated I could tell.

I took a deep breath and let go of the doorknob. It didn't deserve what I was putting it through. "Okay. You don't care but I do because he's my boyfriend and his name is Natsu."

"He will not be your boyfriend any longer. I refuse to let this continue to happen. He will put you in harms way again."

"He will not put me in harms way because it's my choice whether I choose to do what he does or not. If dating him means I will be in harms way, then I will be in harms way because once again it's my choice!!!!" I yelled.

"You will not use that tone of voice with me. My word is final, young lady!!" He yelled back.

"I am a woman. I will be 18 years old next year and I can do whatever the hell I want!!! You cannot control who I date or choose who I want to spend the rest of my life with!!!"

He looked shocked at my language and shook his head. "See he has already changed you."

"He didn't do anything. I just grew up." I said to him as I turned back towards my door and went in then slammed it closed.

I laid on my bed and closed my eyes. One problem down, another to go. Now, what the hell am I going to get Natsu for Christmas? A few minutes later, I heard a knock on my door. Ugh, why couldn't he leave me alone?

"Go away."

"Lucy, its us." I heard Levy's voice come through the door and I immediately jumped up and opened my door. Levy, Erza, and Juvia stood on the other side.

"Hey guys." I stepped to the side and let them in. They filed into my room and Levy and Erza took the chance to ambush my bed while Juvia awkwardly sat on it. I chuckled at her awkwardness and shut the door.

"How was school?" I said to break the silence. Erza and Juvia snorted while Levy groaned. "Ugh, you sound like my mom. What did the hospital do to you?"

I laughed. "Bore me."

"Anyways, what are we doing for tomorrow?" Erza asked.

"Give out presents? Spend the day with our loved ones?" I said teasingly but even though I expected laughter, I got averted eye contact and blushed cheeks from Erza and Levy. I raised an eyebrow at Juvia. She just smirked and shrugged her shoulders.

"What are you hiding from me?" Erza cleared her throat and glanced at Levy and she nodded.

"We are no longer single." It was quiet and then I burst out squealing.

"Who is it? Who? Who? WHO?" Levy confessed first.

"Well, I'm dating Gajeel..." It took me a couple seconds to picture them but then I figured that they would look adorable together. I mean, just picture Gajeel blushing.

"Awwww but if he hurts you, I will take him down myself."

I looked to Erza and she sighed like she was annoyed but she had a blush on her cheeks. "I'm dating Jellal..."

I burst out laughing at the picture of it. Erza and Jellal now that would be interesting.

"See, this is why I didn't want to tell you." Erza said puffing her cheeks out in annoyance.

"I'm sorry but that was funny. I'm looking forward to the future between you two." Erza smiled and then looked into her lap.

"What are you getting your guys for Christmas?" I said curiously.

"Well, I'm getting Gajeel a metal necklace and a CD he's been wanting for a long time." I raised an eyebrow at the bizarre present but Levy shook her head as if meaning she did not want to discuss her boyfriend's weird liking.

"I'm getting Gray a coupon to Sally Hooper's Skating Ring for unlimited visits and a bucket of ice cream." I nodded because I knew Gray was a fan of cold things even though those were little things he would love them.

"I'm getting Jellal a telescope and a concert ticket to see his favorite band." I nodded again and leaned back against the wall. Why was I the only one who couldn't figure out what to get my boyfriend?

"Let me guess. You cant figure out what to get Natsu, can you?" I flinched. It sounded worse coming out of someone else's mouth. I sighed and moved over to my bed where they were and sat down.

"No, I can't and I feel horrible about it." Erza patted me on my back and smiled.

"It's alright. It's quite easy if you think about the right things." I wrinkled my nose in confusion.

"What do you mean?"

Levy joined in. "Well, if you think about something that he likes and something else that relates to him then you'll think of an idea shortly."

Juvia joined in, too. "Yeah, think of something that he likes and the weather or something."

All of a sudden, I thought about the dragon that on his bedroom door. The scales. It was red. Red reminds me of fire and fire brings warmth. Natsu is definitely warm. The weather is cold. Aha, I knew what to give him!!! I sat up quickly and jumped up. I needed to get started right away.

"I know what to give him." I yelled. "I need to get started!!! You guys need to go so I can concentrate!!!"

They looked confused. "Okay...?"

I pushed them out the door and grinned wildly. "I'll see you guys tomorrow!!! Have a nice Christmas Eve!!!"

I grabbed all the stuff I needed and put it all on my bed. My mind was set.
