Natsu POV
After walking away from Lucy and leaving her completely speechless, I decided to go home. I had no business at school, anyway. I am smart enough to be in college right now instead of the 11th grade. I was even chosen to go to college early but college...is just not for me. I like my life the way it is.
I walked down the streets of Magnolia and watched as people and children smiled and laughed carelessly in the park. I walked into my side of Magnolia and the scenery changed. The light from the sun wasn't as bright. Prostitutes hung around every corner. Broken down stores and buildings were showing up more and more. Homeless men and women slept in alleyways. Then finally there was my house one of the decent looking ones but if was better than sleeping outside even if I hated this house. I walked through the door and got hit with the smell of sweat and smoke.
"Finally came home, huh?"
I walked past my mom and walked to my room.
"I'm talking to you, dammit!!"
"I'm here, aren't I?"
"Don't get fucking smart with me!!!"
"You're drunk but I guess that's normal."
"How dare you talk to your mother that way?"
I turned around and saw my dad. His hair was messy more messy than usual and he just had some light blue Levi's on with a cigarette hanging from his mouth.
"She is NOT my mom. Her name is Grandine and she NEVER gave birth to me. Last time I checked my mom's name wasn't Grandine and she's dead."
"Natsu, you have been with...Grandine since you were 5 so why are you acting like this now?"
"She's not my mom..."
"That's a stupid answer."
"Is it really?"
"I'm getting tired of your sarcastic and snarky remarks."
"Well, I've already have gotten tired of seeing your faces. Any longer and I think I might puke so I'm leaving."
"Where are you gonna go? The streets ain't safe these days."
"Oh, so now you're concerned about my safety?"
"We were always worried about your safety."
I ignored her comment and walked to the door. Strangely, this seemed familiar to me but I answered my dad's qusestion.
"I'll stay somewhere but not here. Sorry, dad."
I glanced at Grandine and watched for a moment as she struggled to continue to stand on her own two feet. Then I walked out of the house. Well, I really did know where I was going but then I remembered Lucy was still at school at the moment. So that left me with one last option even though I hated his habit with liking the cold and taking his clothes off for no reason but he was my only hope and my...best friend.
At Gray Fullbuster's house~~~~~~~~
I walked up to Gray's house and it haven't changed not one bit. Only because I came here this morning. His house was a basically a small freezer in the shape of a house. You could practically see your breath as soon as you stepped in and if you stayed there long enough, which you probably wont it would be a miracle if you did, your lips would turn blue and you would slowly freeze to death. Oh, but that didn't stop the almighty Gray Fullbuster. The bastard was basically immune to it. If you put him in Antarctica with just a tshirt and shorts then came to pick him back up a week later, he would still be there alive and look like he just had the time of his life.
I made it to his door and opened it. I walked inside and got hit with a wave of cold air. Strangely, I'm immune to heat and cold air because my body temperature is so high. Its the same thing with Gray. He's immune to cold air and heat because of his very low body temperature. I walked into his living room and saw him sitting on his couch deep in thought.
"Dude, I never seen you think that hard since middle school".
"Oh, hey, jackass."
"I was just being concerned and I get called a jackass. Wow, I feel so appreciated."
He scoffed at me and his expression turned back to serious.
"Gajeel never came back from our mission today."
My eyes narrowed and I became serious.
"What do you mean he never came back?"
"That's exactly what I mean. He. Never. Came. Back."
"What happened?"
"We were in the middle of battle with some members from Sabertooth and we got separated in some gunfire and I couldn't find him."
"Continue."
He sighed and shifted on the couch.
"I told him to meet me at my house if we ever got into trouble or separated before the mission but he never came here. I sent out some from of our members out to search awhile ago. Nobody has contacted me so far so I'm waiting."
"So, we will wait."
We waited for 42 minutes and then finally a phone call came. Gray ran to the phone and practically broke it trying to pick it up.
"Hello?"
"Thank god."
"What do you mean?"
"Seriously?"
"Magnolia hospital?"
"Okay, I'll be there. Natsu is coming too."
"Bye."
I sat up and watched as Gray put the phone down and take a deep breath.
"I guessing by that phone call that it wasn't a good one."
"Yeah, looks like we are taking a trip to the Magnolia Hospital."
"Let's hit the road then."
We got in his car and spent down the road towards Magnolia Hospital.
