Chapter 8 "Tears"

Natsu POV

I woke up with the sun shining in my damn face and Lucy sleeping soundly next to me. Wait, Lucy? I sat up and looked around. I was in her bedroom.

Remembering yesterday's events I chuckled to myself and looked at Lucy. She had drool on the side on her mouth and her hair was on face. Her face looked peaceful and calm and she was snoring softly.

I looked at her gold alarm clock with silver stars on it. It said 7:48 I still had an hour to spare before school starts. I needed to go home anyway my father probably already called the police and filed a missing persons report. My sister is probably worried, too. I looked at Lucy again but a little longer and got up. I walked to her window and looked down to see how far up the window was. I can make it probably with a few scratches but I'll survive.

"See you at school, Lucy." And I jumped.

Lucy POV

I woke up with a smile on my face and I felt ready to go against anyone. I jumped out of bed and turned on my phone. My phone automatically started beeping with notifications. I had 22 texts just from yesterday. Mostly from Levy and Erza, though. I scrolled through them to see what they said.

Levy McGarden: Lucy, where are you?

Levy McGarden: Lucy, did you skip school? Who was that boy? Did he kidnap you? If you don't text me back I'm going to tell Erza.

Levy McGarden: I'm worried where are you? T^T

Levy McGarden: If Erza and I have to track you down and find you we will.

I didn't even doubt that for a second. A determined Levy and Erza can do amazing things. I decided to text her.

Lucy Heartfilia: Levy I'm alright I just had my phone off for the day and I didn't skip I went on a field trip. Hehe.

While I waited for her reply, I put my clothes on and read through the other texts.

Erza Scarlet: Levy told me what happened are you ok? I cant believe you got kicked out of class.

Erza Scarlet: WHERE ARE YOU??? School is over now!!!

Erza Scarlet: Did that boy do some thing to you? I will find him and kill him for you if he did. Should I catastrate him?

Gosh, Erza is so violent but somehow I found this funny and I texted her back.

Lucy Heartfilia: Lol Erza no need to get so violent I'm ok I just turned my phone off yesterday.

Her reply was immediate.

Erza Scarlet: OMFG!!! Do you know how worried Levy and I were? What happened with this boy!!! I want details.

Lucy Heartfilia: I'm really sorry about making you guys worry and I promise to tell you guys everything tonite?

Erza Scarlet: Tonite?

Lucy Heartfilia: Girls nite. -_-

Erza Scarlet: Oh yeah srry I forgot. I will be there and also Levy.

Lucy Heartfilia: Kay I have to finish getting ready for school ttyl

I went to the bathroom and brushed my teeth and washed my face. I grabbed a nearby brush, brushed my hair, and put it in a messy bun.

I went back over to my phone and Levy had texted me back.

Levy McGarden: I don't even have the energy to text you what I wanna say rite now and I will be there for girls nite.

Lucy Heartfilia: Lol ik I'll see you at school.

Levy McGarden: ok

I read the rest of the texts which were mostly 'are you okay and 'where are you' from different people. I walked down the stairs and saw my mom at the table. It was strangely too quiet. I got a bowl and made poured myself a bowl of cereal. I saw down at the table cautiously and began to eat. My mom just stared at me with an unreadable expression on her face. I jumped when she began to speak.

"Did you have a good night's sleep?"

"I actually did."

"Is that so?"

"Yeah."

"Did the boy have a good night's sleep, too?" She said casually.

I choked on my food and coughed. "What?"

"Don't act like you don't know what I'm talking about."

I kept quiet and looked at my bowl of cereal.

"You know, I had the suspicion that you were hiding something when you came down from your room after I came back from the bathroom."

My mom put her head in her hands and sighed.

"Why did you hide it from me? You know I would have found out, anyway, so why?"

I opened my mouth to answer but she cut me off.

"You know what? Never mind. Go to school, you will be late."

I hesitated before getting up and grabbing my book bag. I looked back at her but she wasn't looking at me. I put on my Osiris's and left the house.

Normal POV

After a few minutes, Layla sat at the table listening to her daughter shut the door. She listened to the deafening silence. Her eyes started to water but she repeatedly told herself not to cry. She stopped when a tear ran down her face. She laughed to herself and sat there. The silence once again tortured her and she let herself cry. Her cries of sorrow and despair echoed throughout the house. She wondered why whenever she encouraged others to push through their dark days and stay strong she never do it herself. She would just smile and tell them she was okay. They would always believe her. Even her own husband. Why can't anyone see her despair? Her pain?
