I'm eating a chocolate croissant and walking down the sidewalk of the plaza when I see Max dragging a guy out of Rocket's Corner, simply holding him up by the collar of of his shirt.

The guy was dangling in the air a bit, kicking and screaming profanities at Max before he got set down on the pavement like a child.

I stop where I am, deciding to shake my head as I chew on my baked good and watch the drama.

"Motherfuckers! Give me my money back! You're thieves!"

Max throws him a frightening glare, his face hard and arms crossed against his chest which were making his muscles bulge out. The guy clearly looks intimidated by him from the look on his face.

"Don't come back here again if you know what's good for you."

"You'll regret this! I'll sue you!" The guy screams as he starts to slowly back away.

"Go crazy with it." Max rolls his eyes and then he notices me, his face lighting up. "Aspen!"

I smile and walk up to him, shoving the last bit of croissant I had in my mouth. "Hi, Max. How have you been doing?"

"I've been dealing with assholes like that since the morning." He grins toothily, "It's fun though. Sometimes I get to beat the shit out of them."

I laugh and nudge his shoulder, walking ahead towards the library. "Is that your job? Kicking assholes out?"

"Kind of," He falls in step with me, showing his hands in the pockets. "The old man who owns this place doesn't really have great security, so when he hired Saint and saw me around a few times, he hired me to protect the place."

"Get that old man to hire me too. I know a thing or two about dealing with assholes." I joke, grinning as Max opened the door and let me walk inside.

He laughs, one that's loud and earnest. He has dimples, and I smile at that. Max was a pretty cute guy. A little scary, but cute.

"It'd be fun to have you here. The only other company we have are Rosie and Nancy but they just give lovey-dovey eyes to Saint or talk on the phone."

"What if they're actually giving you the lovey-dovey eyes?" I wiggle my eyebrows and he scoffs, rolling his eyes.

"I might believe that if they didn't go out of their way to avoid me. Plus, Rosie said my tattoos are freaky."

I gasp, offended for him. "They are not freaky. I think they look lovely on you."

"Right?" He grins again, pushing me with his shoulder. "I look sexy as fuck."

"Damn right!" I hold out my fist for a fist bump and Max slaps it instead, making me burst into laughter.

"Shut up. Let's try that again, I wasn't prepared." He grumbles, grabbing my hand that was now at my side and folding my fingers into a fist again.

We actually fist bump this time and Max looks proud of himself. To kill time, I ask, "Max, wanna try and learn a handshake I saw online the other day?"
