The library is becoming my second home.
If I'm not in my classes, I'm in the library with food I took from the cafeteria trying to catch up on the material the other kids learned already or studying.
Today I was in the library for the last couple of my blocks, particularly studying for the Physics final I had to take next week in class.
Unfortunately though, the library was a popular spot for the Student Council members to have their stupid meetings and they were loud.
"I want everyone here to give me the details on what you've prepared for the parade by our next meeting," April says, crossing her arms as she looks down at the rest of the student council members. "The Homecoming dance is in a week and no one has been doing anything. The other schools are already ahead with preparations for their dance."
One thing I've learned from the few meetings I've overheard is that April is a tasteless leader. Her tone with the other members is more of a forceful, bossy one than one that should be engaging.
I don't think many of them appreciate her either considering the expressions on their face every time she tells them to do something. A certain freshman member named Fiona consistently points out April's behavior though, which is always amusing to see.
I've also discovered that Saint and April are quite close with one another considering the fact that he was the Student Council's Vice President.
While she was more bossy and flippant with the members, Saint spoke in a gentle manner and always used inclusive diction when speaking to the others.
He didn't speak unless he needed to but when he did, he used terms that included the student council as a whole. Even when members made mistakes, he'd say things like, "It's alright, we can fix it," instead of putting them on the spot.
I thought that was admirable of him and I knew that the other members really appreciated him as well because like right now, when the meeting ends, everyone goes out of their way to talk to Saint about council affairs instead of their actual President.
I look away from them and finish up jotting down the last of my formulas. I didn't have a lot of time left before I had to go to Mrs. Hill's class.
Listening to a random playlist I made on Spotify, I spend the next half hour working on making myself a solid study guide for the exam.
A table away from me sat Saint and April, looking over papers and seeming to be studying together.
At one point, Saint and I make eye contact and his business like expression melts a bit as his eyes light up in acknowledgment. I wave at him before looking away and finishing up my shit, feeling proud of myself when I actually understand all the content.
The bell rings soon after that and I stand up, gathering my heavy textbooks and notebooks in my arms. They were a bit heavy but nothing I couldn't handle. I was content with how much progress I made today.
When I stalked closer to the doors, I was beginning to shift my textbooks in one hand so I can open the doors easier but a pair of familiar hands grab two of the four textbooks from me, lightening the weight in my hands.
