He just slapped me.
I stand there frozen with my head hanging and hair covering my face.
I'd never gotten hit by my own parents yet here I was, a stranger smacking me across the face.
"Shit, Aspen, I'm sorry. I-I-I didn't mean to...I'm really sorry-"
Levi was stuttering over his words like crazy and the way he was babbling, you'd think he was sorry.
Too bad I'm not a forgiving person.
"Save it," I laugh, lifting my head up to look at him in the eye. "I'll be generous to your fragile ego and say that it hurt. Hmm...I rate it a 6.34 out of ten. Now, I think it's my turn."
Quicker than he can process my words, I grab the glass vase on the table and hit him across his head, the glass shattering and going everywhere.
"Fuck!" He screams before falling to the ground.
God, that felt good.
"Whoo!" I scream, throwing my hands in the air and bouncing on the tips of my feet. "What's my rating, Beckett? I mean, I think I get a few brownie points seeing that you're bleeding right?"
Not really. There was a small little cut on his head that was oozing like a drop of blood. The glass from the vase didn't seem to be actual glass, more like plastic glass, but he was on the floor either way.
"What do you say we go for round two-"
"ASPEN ELOISE WILSON!"
Well shit.
I jolt in shock and turn slowly to see my mother standing in her robe, hair wet and eyes horrified as she looked between me and her husband on the floor.
Her accusing expression was fixated on me and I quickly say, "Before you assume anything, he-"
"How could you hit him? God, Aspen!" She pushes past me, accidentally shoving me too hard.
I fall down onto the shards of glass on the floor as she grabbed her husband's head in her lap, stroking his hair and asking him if he was okay.
Does she not see the hand mark on my face or my bruising lip? Or maybe she's just choosing not to see it.
"Levi, honey, are you okay? Do we need to take you to the hospital?"
He groans dramatically and I roll my eyes. I didn't even hit him that hard.
"Aspen," I was suddenly being lifted up by my underarms. "You're bleeding everywhere."
I look down at my arms and wince, the pain registering in my head now. There were a lot of tiny glass shards poking out from my skin.
April was in front of me, frantic and trying to pick at glass pieces in my skin but she was just making things worse for me.
She was once in Levi's position.
