THE RAT HAD INDEED turned out to be Peter Pettigrew, who was immediately tackled onto the floor by Cassie. Remus and Sirius had to restrain her before she did anything recklessly, seeing how she was fuming in anger. Pettigrew was the reason her uncle and godmother were dead; Peter was the reason her mother was even at Saint Mungo's before being exiled from Europe; Peter was the reason both Cassie and Harry had to spend their childhood parentless; Peter was the reason the Order failed in the first place. All because the scrawny little wizard couldn't stand up for himself and ran wherever he saw power.

Peter denied any and every accusation placed on him, twisted the words and facts to his will but Sirius, Remus and Cassie found loopholes each time, proving Sirius innocent and sending Peter on a pointless guilt trip. Harry, Hermione and Ron asked a few questions too, Peter trying to grasp their questions and use them for his defence, failing miserably yet again.

Peter questioned Remus, asking if Sirius would have not told if he was switching the role of the Secret Keeper at the last moment, to which Remus coolly replied on how the two of them were silly enough to think the other was the 'rat' of the order, therefore keeping them out of the loop on the information. Having given up hope on convincing his 'friends' Peter turned to the four kids, pleading to them.

Ron seemed repulsed when Peter tried to crawl to him. He had taken the matter quite harshly realising he had been housing a mass murder for the past twelve years. Hermione backed away to the wall, pulling her robes away from Peter's grasp. Peter then reluctantly proceeded to beg for Cassie's mercy.

Peter knew all too well how powerful she was. He had seen her magic first hand and had heard all sorts of stories about her. He knew how she could finish him off without even using a killing curse on him. So being the blind follower of power he crawled towards Cassie, his head already facing the floor as he begged for her forgiveness.

"Cassie ... forgive me ... I didn't do anything ... save me from your father ... don't join the wrong side like him,"

"I can pick my sides for myself, thank you," Cassie spat, still being restrained by her father, who himself, was finding it very hard to not commit the murder he was imprisoned for.

"Harry ... Harry ... you look just like your father ... just like him" Peter began, now inching towards the boy.

"HOW DARE YOU SPEAK TO HARRY?" roared Sirius. "HOW DARE YOU FACE HIM? HOW DARE YOU TALK ABOUT JAMES IN FRONT OF HIM?"

This time it was Cassie's turn to seize her father. Remus was surprised by the strength she possessed, single-handedly restraining a grown man who was mad in anger at this point.

"Harry," Peter whispered, shuffling towards him, hands outstretched, "Harry, James wouldn't have wanted me killed ... James would have understood, Harry ... he would have shown mercy,"

Both Remus and Sirius strode forward, seized Pettigrew by the shoulder and threw him backwards on the floor. He sat up there, twitching in terror, staring up at them.

"You sold Lily and James to Voldemort," said Sirius, who was shaking too, "Do you deny it?"

Pettigrew burst into tears. Cassie found it to be a bizarre sight: an oversized balding baby cowering on the floor.

"Sirius, Sirius, what could I have done? The Dark lord ... you have no idea, he has weapons you can't imagine ... I was scared, Sirius ... I was never brave like you and Remus and James. I never meant it to happen ... He Who Must Not Be Named forced me – "

"DON'T LIE!" roared Sirius, "YOU'D BEEN PASSING INFORMATION TO HIM FOR A YEAR BEFORE JAMES AND LILY DIED! YOU WERE THE SPY!"

"BECAUSE I HAD NO CHOICE!" yelled Peter back, finally letting out something he had never dared to tell anyone. "He said he'd kill everyone if I didn't,"
