CASSANDRA EUPHEMIA REGULUS BLACK CERTAINLY knew how to leave an excellent first impression, but this time even she would not blame her peers for finding her entrance a little too dramatic.

It was her first Charms class today and she was going to be spending the rest of the year with fifth years; and after how everything had gone down last year, she wanted to make a better mark for herself rather than one carved (unfortunately) by her father.

But this plan did not involve the Hogwarts caretaker, Argus Filch, dragging her to Classroom 2E, twisting her arm and blaming her for lying and wanting to bunk class.

Cassandra's awfully calm stance did make Filch question his accusation but he would never take back his blame until and unless he was shut down by a professor.

The door of the third-floor classroom was kicked open by the caretaker, making Cassie simply blink at the thunderous sound.

"Professor Flitwick," Filch began at once, not caring that the Charms Professor was in the middle of rollcall, "Is it true that this delinquent is a part of 5th-year charms and not supposed to be there for Transfiguration Classes in Class 99 like the rest of her peers?"

"Yes," squeaked the Professor, letting a satisfied grin etch on Cassie's face. She stepped away from Filch, slightly nursing her arm where he tightly clasped onto her and brushed her uniform in an attempt to lighten the creases mumbling loud enough for the caretaker to hear, "I told you, I don't lie,"

Argus Filch mumbled something incoherently and with a face that resembled a shrivelled up tomato, he shuffled out of the room avoiding any further embarrassment. No sooner had he left than the classroom echoed of snorts and stifled laughs before Professor Flitwick silenced them and began to address Cassie.

"Good afternoon, Miss Black. Please take a seat next to Miss Diggory and we shall get started with class after I'm done with the last bit of roll call," he informed, pointing at a girl with golden hair tied up neatly in two plates. She waved at Cassie with a sweet smile and then made space for the girl to join her.

"Hi!" she greeted as Cassie took a seat, "I'm Delilah  Diggory! Cedric's told me a lot about you,"

"Hey," Cassie smiled back, "I remember we met at the Ministry once. You were wearing that yellow dungaree with sunflower prints on it," she recalled, trying to make awkward small talk (something was better than nothing right?)

"Ah yes, my iconic sunflower outfit," Delilah laughed, "You know I still have it in my closet at home. Never mustered enough courage to give it away,"

"Oddly enough, I get that," Cassie smirked, "You're probably the first one I'm telling this to, but I have this black jumpsuit made out of velvet that makes me look like a big black dog if I stand on all fours — a family joke — and it really doesn't fit me anymore but I still carry it around in my suitcase wherever I go,"

"I think that's adorable," Delilah assured, "And there's nothing a little growth charm can't fix," she winked mischievously.

Cassie smirked, nodding and bringing her attention back to her professor.

Maybe her first impression wasn't as bad as she thought.

CHARMS CLASS WAS AN ABSOLUTE success and Cassie could not have been happier to have Delilah as her charms partner for the rest of the year. The girl carried this exuberant energy around her and always made a person feel better about themselves. Her smile would light up anyone's day and her captivating dark chocolate eyes reminded Cassie of the earth and the Forbidden forest, striking another memory in her head (which she would push aside every single time because it simply did not sit correctly with the story). She radiated joy and bliss and it wasn't much of a surprise when Cassie watched several of Cedric's friends becoming clowns in front of Delilah in an attempt to impress her.
