AS SOON AS THEY LOST SIGHT OF their families, everyone dispersed into their own little groups to find their cabin.Harry, Ron and Granger waved Cassie goodbye after she politely rejected their offer to sit with them for the train ride. Ginny ran off to sit with a few of her classmates while Fred and George went to tell Lee all about their new products and initiatives, telling Cassie if she were ever bored, she could join their coach.
So with that, Cassie was now all alone in the passage of the Hogwarts express.
Usually, in these cases, anyone would probably wonder why they didn't have more friends or why they would always end up befriending people who already had their own friend groups. Honestly, Cassie was wondering about that too, but it didn't really matter. So without much to think or say, the girl walked around the train trying to find herself an empty coach.
As soon as she found one, the girl ran in and dumped herself on the long seat — the familiar leather eloping her back as she sunk in.
"Peace and silence at last," sighed Cassie in pleasure, her eyes closed as she absorbed the chatter of the students outside the door, the trolley lady coming around to sell her sweets and the chugging of the train as they made their way to Hogwarts. It was still raining heavily, lashes of water hitting the roof of the train and the windows, sweeping it clean yet giving a blurry view of the scenery outside.
Now don't get her wrong — Cassie liked the company of the twins, her cousin and his friends; but sometimes, the girl just needed to rewind from all the chaos in her life. There was a reason she considered herself an ambivert. And right now, the introvert side of her was talking over.
The pitter-patter of the rain, the silence in the cabin — it all made the perfect setting for her to work in peace. So she pulled out her sketchbook, some stationary and that walkman Harry had gifted her. With the help of Granger, the girl was now able to play some muggle tunes to set the mood of her ride.
With a muggle singer, Frank Sinatra's album 'My Way' playing, Cassie hummed the lyrics of 'Watch What Happens' while designing a fancy dress she'd make out of the gold silk.
"Cold, no I won't believe your heart is cold," she sang while trying out different sleeves for the dress, "Maybe just afraid to be broken again,"
"Let someone with a deep love to give," sang another voice, making Cassie look up from her book, "Give that deep love to you,"
"And what magic you'll see," the two sang together, their voices matching perfectly.
While the instrumental part played in her ear, she looked at the boy standing at her door with an impressed smirk.
"Sorry for randomly singing along," he apologised, "It's just, Frank Sinatra is one of my favourites and this album is a bigger favourite of mine,"
"It's okay," Cassie shrugged with a warm smile, "It was a please to hear you sing for the first time, Thomas,"
"You have a beautiful voice too," the boy complimented.
The girl nodded in thanks, tucking her hair behind her ear.
"Where's your second half?" she teased on noticing the lack of his best friend's presence.
"Seamus is apparating directly to Hogsmeade with his mum," the boy explained, "Hence my lonely wayward self wandering around the train with no aim or motive,"
"You don't have any company?" he asked, pointing at the empty seat beside her.
"Nope," the girl said shaking her head, "Wanted some peace and quiet before all the chaos and commotion of Hogwarts,"
