MUCH AGAINST HER WILL, CASSIE WAS FOUND being dragged out of the Common Room by Ronald Weasley. Cassandra had been politely minding her own business, lounging on the sofa by the fireplace, legs interwoven with Fred Weasley (who'd been thrust upon a book by the former) to have some 'reading time' together and enjoy the 'peace and quiet' in each other's company (as much 'peace and quiet' as they could get in a common room like theirs; but it was Cassie and Fred for Merlin's sake. Being in each others company just calmed them down). That was until Harry and Ron strolled back into the Common Room after dinner to be met with an overtly energetic Hermoine Granger. The girl had begun to pull them out of the room they'd just barely entered with great urgency - but somewhere during that struggle, Cassie had unfortunately strayed her eyes away from the book and met Ron's pleading eyes when he realised Hermoine was kidnapping him.
"Hold on, hold on woman," she'd heard Ron mumble before rushing towards her.
"Sorry, I'm borrowing her for my sanity," he announced, plucking the book out of Cassie's hands and placing it on Fred's chest [the latter being surprisingly involved with his book in hand and giving a half-hearted hum of acknowledgement to whatever was going on around him].
"By the way, I've never seen him even hold a book," he whispered to Cassie, as she linked her arm around his and followed him out to the beckoning Granger.
"Oh don't mind me!" the Fat Lady called irritably after them. "Don't apologize for bothering me! I'll just hang here, wide open, until you get back, shall I?"
"Yeah, thanks!" Ron shouted over his shoulder, making Cassie let out a little snort.
"Hermione, where are we going?" Harry asked, after Granger had led them down through six floors, and started down the marble staircase into the entrance hall.
"You'll see, you'll see in a minute!" said Hermione excitedly.
She turned left at the bottom of the staircase and hurried toward the door Cassie recognised as one of the entrances to the kitchen.
Dear Salazar, this was one of those S.P.E.W. adventures.
No wonder Ron had dragged her out to 'maintain his sanity'.
They followed Hermione down a flight of stone steps, but instead of ending up in a gloomy underground passage like the one that led to Snape's dungeon, they found themselves in a broad stone corridor, brightly lit with torches, and decorated with cheerful paintings that were mainly of food.
"Oh hang on . . ." said Harry slowly, halfway down the corridor. "Wait a minute, Hermione. . . ."
"What?" She turned around to look at him, anticipation all over her face.
"I know what this is about," said Harry.
He nudged Ron and pointed to the painting just behind Hermione. It showed a gigantic silver fruit bowl.
"Hermione!" said Ron, cottoning on. "You're trying to rope us into that spew stuff again!"
"Wait, you're just figuring that out?" Cassie whispered to him, "Why'd you drag me out of my leisure reading time then?"
"It was a hyper-excited Hermoine moment! They always drive me a little insane" Ron explained, as if stating the obvious.
"No, no, I'm not!" she said hastily. "And it's not spew, Ron -"
"Changed the name, have you?" said Ron, frowning at her."What are we now, then, the House-Elf Liberation Front?"
"That's a pretty cool name actually," Cassie remarked, pleasantly surprised.
