It's been 5 treacherous years since Renae had filed for divorce. 5 long years since she and King had been under the same roof and a lot has changed. When King refused to sign the papers, things became rocky and quickly turned into war. It was no longer about Renae being upset, she wanted out. Out from under his control. Out of sight and completely out of his mind. King spent a lump sum of money to get the divorce request thrown out and settled for a temporary separation.

That only made things worst. To Renae, he was trying to keep the upper hand and she felt as if she was falling under his spell and playing into his child-like games. Remembering the promise she made on their kids behalf, she signed the separation papers but it was King who wouldn't. They argued so much for a week straight and even then, King still refused to sign. He wasn't ready to let her go and that simple fact made Renae feel as if she had lost control of her life. Those simple words may have meant some good on King's end but to Renae, it screamed; danger!

Spending months discussing the entire situation with Dajon and the attorney, they both suggested for her to just move away. Because the longer she remained in the guest house, King would feel as if that meant that she was coming back or as if he had a chance at winning her back. Although Dajon didn't want the two to separate, he could see the game King was slickly playing and could see the burden it was weighing on his sister. He was trying to have her on her last leg until she caved and Dajon refused to watch his sister go back knowing what that would mean for her.

Settling things outside of court verbally, Renae moved fully, 6 months after they put a pause on the messy dispute. King offered to pay alimony and anything else she needed for her or the kids, but Renae declined. She had more than enough money that she worked hard for saved up and she knew the kids didn't want to be involved in the drama.

The kids had switched between staying over at Renae's place to staying at King's. Unfortunately, King knew her address. He never said how and didn't have to. She knew he had to have asked a favor from someone or probably got it out of one of the kids. The seasons came and gone as did people. With his parents troublesome separation, 19-year-old Kairo was growing into the man he once aspired to be like; his father. But just because he looked and moved like him, didn't mean that he was anything like the man who had fucked up a good thing with his mom, or was he?

Kairo grew into a nice-looking young man. Standing 5'11, weighing almost 200 pounds of pure muscle, tattoos adorned his medium build, cinnamon toast tinted skin. His almond-shaped, dark brown eyes sat perfectly under his well-tamed thick brows. His jawline was chiseled to perfect, like his father's with facial hair covering the perimeter precisely. He had a trimmed mustache resting above his plump, pink lips, and had a pearly white smile that captured the souls of many women, old and young. He had the pretty boy mixed with hood swag down pact. His family saw him as one way but in their absence, touring the streets with Zaire, he was a different person.

Despite all of that, there was love brewing; old and new and Kairo was aware of one in particular. But how far would a person be willing to go for love? Would they die for it? Was it right of him to just stand back and watch another man love the woman that he knew should have been held onto by his father? Kairo knew of the man in his mother's life even if she tried to deny things. The only question he had for his father was; What Will It Take?

Then we had his right-hand man Zaire, only sixteen but also a lot like his father in many ways but he was still a sweetheart and proved on many occasions that he had no problems with getting his hands dirty. When you put those two together, you were bound to get into trouble or be the ones trying to avoid their presence by any means.

Then we had Ava, baby girl was 20 going on 21 and had graduated high school with honors and earned her associate's degree in nursing and was currently working on her last two years to earn her bachelors in fashion. She was still friends with Kayla and Michelle but was sure to kick it with Michelle every once in a while, being that her father was still trying to dig up dirt on King.
