There was heavy darkness that lingered over Kairo as he laid in bed, tossing and turning. Unaware of what kind of evil was lurking in the distance. Heart racing. Chest heaving. Breathing becoming erratic as the faint screams grow louder and louder until the...
BANG!
Jumping out of his sleep, sweat covering his now bare torso, Kairo looked around his dark bedroom just to see two figures. One was in the right corner screaming but no sounds could be heard and the other to the left, cowered in the corner with blood staining their clothes. Unsure of who either of the figures was, Kairo removed the thin sheet from his body and slid off the bed.
A tall shadow was standing next to the figure in the right, but Kairo couldn't make out any features if it had any for the matter. Unsure of the direction he was supposed to go, he began walking toward the left, but the floors seemed to move with each step he took.
BANG!
Kairo's head turned swiftly as he tried to find out where the gunshot came from.
BANG!
He was somewhere else. Heart still pounding, Kairo's brows knitted together as he walked down the narrow hallway barefoot.
BANG!
Kairo jumped, looking behind him momentarily before proceeding forward. No recollection of his location, he just kept walking. The lights faded, the darkness returned then came the screams.
Disoriented, Kairo's eyes traveled every kind of way until he felt something wet under his foot. His heartbeat thumped harder. Faster, as he looked down and noticed the crimson red, puddle. His mouth became cotton dry as he heard another heart wrenching scream.
"He... hello?" he finally found his voice as he approached the wooden stairs.
One step, squeak. Another step, squeak.
"Hello?" he glanced behind him one last time before proceeding on his journey.
A loud thud caught his attention as he reached the last step and had to duck when something came flying his way. Looking at what seemed to be a broken vase, Kairo looked around the dim hall at the two figures fighting. Blow for blow. He couldn't make out their faces but he knew one was a woman and the other had to be a man. Standing in the corner a bit stunned, Kairo's eyes squinted as he tried to make out who the man was when he flung the woman into the wall.
BANG!
There was that damn gunshot again but this time it came from downstairs. Unsure if he should leave the scene at hand or go find out where the shots came from, Kairo attempted to run but his feet wouldn't budge.
Crash!
The sounds of glass shattering caught his attention as the woman's body was slammed through the small table. Covered in blood, too banged up to fight anymore, she just laid there. In pain. In fear as the figure stood over her.
"Hey!" Kairo yelled when he removed the gun.
"Yo?!" he found his strength and began walking toward the guy but the hallway seemed to be expanding.
BANG! BANG!
Kairo's body jerked.
Clutching his stomach as if he had been the one shot, Kairo stumbled back and looked down but saw nothing.
"Huh?" he absentmindedly spoke as his head lifted just as the lights returned.
Heavy running caught his attention as a figure came running up the stairs as if there were a fire. Still unable to move or be seen, Kairo leaned over some and stared at the man as he rushed to the scene but was met with two bullets through the chest. Kairo's body flew into the wall as the wounded man slid across the hall.
