Chapter 26

What was happening to my best friend I rung Emily to inform her what happened I could barely get my words out so Rob took the phone and explained. He seemed so calm and relaxed about the situation that's when it clicked that the paramedic knew his name!

"Rob, how did that paramedic know your name?" I managed to ask

"Urrrr....an...old friend, yeah just someone I knew from school that's all don't worry about it" Rob seemed on edge all of a sudden that's when I saw Emily burst through the doors, tears flowing down her face with Josh tracing behind.

"What's going on in there!" Emily tried looking in through the gap in the blinds

"She stopped breathing, Rob found her down the alley she's in a bad way Emily I'm scared" I couldn't stop crying, Emily came over and wrapped her arms around me by this time she was in tears too. "The baby!" Emily shouted. I held her tight, I looked over at Josh he ran his hand through his hair with a guilty look upon his face

"There going to do everything they can! Deanna wouldn't want you to be in this state now would she? Come on" Rob gave us a hug and sat down

That's when Kieran came running through the door, Emily looked at me "Did you ring him?" I looked back she shook her head "No did you?" I looked back up at Kieran

"Who told you what happened?"

"Urrr...i heard some people talking and they said Deanna's name" His voice was panicky

"Hmmm" I replied it seemed so strange how did people know when we only just got here ourselves? Before I could question Kieran anymore the doctor came out with a clip board we all jumped up, Rob held my waist, Emily holding my hand the grip got tighter and tighter

"Deanna is breathing but her pulse is still very weak and she is in very critical state" the doctors warned us, I felt a huge weight lift off of me even though she critical I knew she was safer then before.

It was getting late, I gave Deanna a kiss on the cheek and left the hospital to go home Rob stayed with me and drove me home

"You going to be ok tonight baby?" His hand on my knee as we pulled up outside my house. "I can stay tonight if you like keep you company?" He continued

"If that's no trouble?" I started crying, I didn't want to leave her what if something happened? I wouldn't be there to protect her that's when I realised they didn't tell us anything about the baby

"The baby!" I said going through the door when Kat came rushing from her bedroom, she hugged me without saying a word. I pulled away and looked back at Rob

"We will phone them first thing tomorrow...you've had a traumatic day get some sleep, ill be in, in a minute" he kissed my forehead and I headed off into my bedroom, Rob always knew what to say In these situations.

I woke up the next morning with a pounding headache, I felt around the bed for Rob but he wasn't there I got up that's when I heard the shower. It was 7.45am on a Monday morning and I had college Kat said I could go hospital after college. I got showered and just put my converse tracksuit on and shoved my hair up in a messy bun.

Rob was sitting at the breakfast bar with my sister when I came in. "Morning Babe" Rob jumped up and gave me a kiss, Kat sat there in her own little world not paying much attention, I grabbed an apple out of the fruit bowl and headed out to the car.

We arrived at college and everyone seemed to be starring, I got out the car when I saw Tiffany parked where Deanna's car is usually parked I stormed over.

"Oh hey Cami! Hows Deanna?" A smile plastered over her face she turned round to Sinead and they both started laughing, I felt my hands start to shake.

"It was you! You fucking bitch! If she looses this baby or her life god help you!" I shouted just as I was about to punch her a girl stopped me, I never saw her around here before but she was already in my bad books

"Don't know what you mean Babe, I was in bed with umm..im not sure his name but he was good if ya know what I mean" she winked how could she be so smug after what she did, she showed no remorse over what she did and she didn't even butter an eyelid when I told her she was pregnant! I stormed off I was late for class but everything I worked for just didn't seem right anymore, everywhere I looked I saw Deanna and the fact I didn't know what was happening hurt me.

My phone started ringing I quickly searched my bag it was an "Unknown number" I answered. "Hello..." I started before being cut off

"Is this Cami-Li Smith?" The unknown voice spoke

"Yes who is this?" I hesitated

"Its Dr Augustus, we are ringing you with an update on Deanna"

"Yes what's happening? Is she ok? The baby?" So many questions to ask

"I'm afraid to inform you, we wasn't able to save Deanna's baby although there is no change in Deanna"

I froze, I felt a tear fall from my eye that's when Josh walked over "How is she?"

"The baby didn't make it" By the time I finished the sentence I collapsed to the floor people staring over at me like i was loosing the plot i looked back up at Josh, he was silent and he looked like he saw a ghost...
