Two months ago Thiko made a decision to go to rehab, I haven't seen him since but this morning he called me saying that he's coming back home. I cooked, cleaned and invited his favorite people over.
"Who's going to pick up the booze?" I ask
"I will with Khumo, I told you that the last 5 seconds ago when you asked for the third time." Thabile annoyed
"And the meat?" Me again
"Wanga please go and take a bath, everything is fine" My mom
"I just want to make sure..."
"Stop, everything is fine. You still have to pick him up" my mom
She have her hand on my shoulder. I smile and head to the bedroom, take a shower. I don't want to overdress so I'll just wear a maxi dress and flat sandals. I don't need makeup, or should I say I'm not in the mood for makeup. I head to the living, pick up my car keys and leave.I don't know what to expect or what to say to Thiko when I see him, will he be okay? Will he still be attracted to me or was it all about sex. If we remove that common denominator in this relationship, will it be the same. Even worse would we survive?
"Mine" he kiss my lips after I stared at him as he made his way to me trying not to cry
I embrace him. "I miss you so much"
He doesn't let me go but holds me tighter.
"I miss you more and thank you for coming" he says
We walk to the car hand in hand, he opens the passenger door for me to get in, I do.
"Can I play my Music?" I asks as he starts the car
He nods.
I see his smile emerging as the song starts, he's not looking at me but smiling focused on the road.
"What's the name of the song?" He asks smiling at me
"You've got a way by Shania Twain" I say
"It's beautiful, I love it" he says
I bite my lower "It's for you babe" I smile
"Can we repeat it?" He asks
"I had two other ones for you, but we can listen to them later" i say
He frown "Stop making me feel bad"
"You do that too" I smile
He wag his head smiling at the road, still listening to my song. He doesn't say anything about the cars parked outside.
"You need to stop opening the door for me..."
"I'm going to pretend like i didn't hear anything" Thiko
He takes my hand in his and walk to the door with me, he opens the door and Candy is the first to jump on top of him. What the fuck is going on here? She wasn't here when I left, I had no idea she was even back home.
"Look at you all grown up" Thiko says to Candy
They both roar with laughter.
"You look great yourself Tk" she says
I walk past them to where everyone is, the dining room table. My mom embrace me, I know she understands how I'm feeling.
Everyone looks happy to Thiko after two months, its like he was gone for years. It's weird but I haven't said two words to Candy ever since I saw her, or even payed attention to what she's saying. I'm responding when asked a question and laughing at the jokes, however I'm not happy about what ever is going on here.
"I'm leaving you" that's my mom
"But the braai is not over yet..." I say
"Those are your things, besides it's almost midnight and you should be outside with the others having fun" she says
"I was just cleaning up mom" I smile
"Fine, I'll see you tomorrow" she hugs me
I'm now alone again sipping the second bottle of wine.
"Why are you inside?" It's khumo
He looks tipsy, well so am I.
"Why are you inside?" I ask him
He walks in the kitchen and sit next to me.
"I should stop drinking, I'm seeing things I shouldn't be seeing..." he says
I am laughing now, he looks serious though.
"You're seeing ghosts?" I ask
He shakes his head as if I should keep on guessing.
"Wanga, can I get a glass of what you're having?" Thabile walking in
I get her a glass and pour her wine, she sips in silence.
"I can't handle what ever they're having out there" she breaks the silence
I laugh "That's why I have this dear"
"You should join us outside though Wanga" she smiles at me
"I'll be there" I say
She walks out. Noooo
"Is it me or you just..."
He cuts me "It's not you, I am seeing her...her beautiful eyes, soft lips, thick thighs..."
I close my ears with my hands "Stop, noo. It's her, she's Candy's little sister and Thiko's baby cousin." I say
"I'm not like this, even when I'm drunk I still have morals and respect boundaries. I can't look at her without my mind creating dirty fantasies of me doing inappropriate things to her. I need something strong..." Khumo getting up
"No, you need to stop drinking. Don't ever drink close to her, she's still young and you are a player" I state
He's hitting his head with a bottle of Jameson.
"I think I should get laid tonight, maybe it's why I'm like this." He's now on his phone
"What's going to happen if you wake up tomorrow and still want to do those inappropriate things to her..." I say
He looks at me "You should stop drinking too. You're judgement is starting to sound questionable" khumo says
"I'm going outside with the others" I say
"I need to get laid" khumo says still on his phone
