18. Denzhe

I've been having my contractions for
6 hours to be exact. I can't do it anymore I want this to end already. I don't understand why women forget about such things and continue having sex. This is the worst feeling in the world and I'm not falling pregnant ever again.
"Please deliver her already" I plead with the nurse
She nods and walk out. She is not coming back, is she mocking me?
"Ms Bugana, let's deliver her..." the doctor walking towards me
God heard my prayers.
"Where's Thiko?" I ask the nurse
"You asked him to leave remember?" She says
I hate her "Please get him"
She walks out again.
He's here but standing by the door, he's been dramatic now. I understand I screamed and shouted at him to leave hysterically but I'm delivering now and he must hold my hand.
"Babe..." I call him
He looks at me, then the nurse.
"You can go Mr Sadiki" she assures him as if I'm capable of doing something to him at this moment.

4 hours Later, I gave birth to a beautiful baby girl and immediately when Thiko held her in his arms he fell in love with his copy. However there are complications, I've been bleeding nonstop and I have to undergo surgery. Thiko is not taking it well, I know he's aware of the risks that comes with the surgery and what will happen if I don't.
"Where's my mom...?" I ask
Thiko looks like he was lost in his thoughts " she went to buy food"
I nod.
"I'll be there in the surgery..." he says after a while
"I don't think it's necessary babe, besides I can't let you go through that..." I say
"Stop making it more difficult, I'm scrubbing in and that's that" he looks away
I try holding his hand but he move it away.
"I don't know if I should go through this surgery..."
"What, you want to bleed to death?" Thiko arrogantly
Why is he being so cold and he has no right being upset, I'm the one being cut open.
"I believe that I'll stop bleeding, we can wait a bit" I suggest
He looks angry but doesn't say anything.
"I need time..." I continue
"I'm not going to sit here and watch you die, even if it means me performing the surgery here, I'll do it" Thiko
"It's my decision at the end of the day and you have no right to do anything about it" I say
"I don't care" he stares at me
"I still want to be a mother, I can't just be okay with them taking it away from me" I cry
"I can't be okay with you leaving me, knowing that I could've done something to save you. I became a doctor to save lives not to sit and watch people die. If you want me to do that then why did I even do this to begin with?"
Why is he making me feel bad?
"If this is not about me then please think about our little girl...she needs a mother" he says
The doctor walks back in, she waits for me to stop crying before she can speak.
"I'm ready..." I break the silence
She nods.
"I love you" I say to Thiko who is just staring at me with a long face. He gets up and walk out without saying a word.
On my way to the OR, the only thing on my mind is my little girl all alone. I can't leave her too, my mom needs me too. What will happen to Thiko if I die?
In the OR, Thiko is here in his scrubs.
"Try to stay alive" he says to me almost in a whisper
"I will" I say
He place his hand on my face and kiss me.

I woke up 8 hours after the surgery, my mom, Thiko, Candy, Thabile, Lufuno and surprisingly Tebogo were there waiting for me. Not to forget the whole crew that were outside to see me discharged three days after. I knew that moment that if I didn't wake up my baby girl had a family to look after her, Thiko wasn't going to be alone. I made bonds that have became impossible to break.
It's been 3 weeks, Thiko took a paternity leave. I was just as shocked when he told me, he said he wanted to do things right and differently this time around. I'm grateful for that, my mom left 2 days ago with Lufuno. This time she said I was ready, I don't know what it meant. I must also find a way to get rid of Candy, she literally moved in and acting like she just gave birth. I have to ask her to give me Denzhe, almost plead with her...I mean, come on it's my baby for God sake.
"Cupcake needs milk, just make sure she's full and bring her back to me when you're done" Candy
"Why am I being treated like a surrogate?" I ask
"Stop being melodramatic" she says
"When are you leaving?" I'm annoyed
"Maybe when she turns one, so I can officially take her" she says
"Thiko" I call out
He walks in the living room.
"Please ask Candy to leave" I say
He laughs, reads my facial expression and then stop.
"You're serious?" He asks
I am not going through this again, it's been three weeks already.
He clears his throat still looking at me.
"Candy..." he says slowly
We're both looking at him waiting.
"I can't do this, please do it" he says facing me
"That's why I asked you, I also can't. Besides you're the head of the family" I say
"Since when?" He asks sarcastically
I fold my arms over my chest.
"Candy, I love my wife. Please leave" he says defeated
"But I'm an unpaid nanny, why are you kicking me out?" She asks me
"Because I'm the mother here not you, I only hold my baby when I'm breastfeeding and for a limited amount of time" I complain
She frown "Okay fine I'll leave, just let me come here at least during the day?"
"Four days in a week only" I say
"Deal" she offers a handshake, I return it
"What just happened?" Thiko still confused
We both laugh.
"You just solved a war" Candy says
A knock on the door, Thiko walks to the door and open. It's Grant, Luke, khumo and a white girl. Not the same one I saw with Luke but I'm guessing she's his new one. They walk in and we all exchange greetings.
"Whose birthday is it?" Thiko asks as they get sitted
"No one, we're here to just chill" Khumo
When did these two make peace with each other?
"Why my house?" Thiko asks
"He said it's a sacred place, close to their hearts" the girl smiling
"Who said that?" I ask
She giggles at Grant, he smiles at her.
"I said it's a happy place, for all of us. You guys are the definition of True love to us" Grant clarify
"Are you two dating?" I ask the girl
I'm being too forward.
"Why Wanga?" Candy asks
I look at her, she is not okay I can see.
"Yes, for a month now" the girl says
I try smiling at her but my attention shifts back to Candy, who walks out in a rush. I follow her outside.
"Candy stop" I can't walk fast
She stops and walk back to where I'm standing
"Why did you ask, Wanga?" She looks pissed
"I am sorry..." I say
"Fuck you and all this, I'm so tired of feeling like this. I put myself out there again and that's what I get, him embarrassing me like that? I feel like shit right now..."
"I know.."
She cuts me "You don't know anything, if you did you wouldn't have asked."
I don't know what to say anymore.
"Candice" Grant from behind me
"Please stay away from me" Candy pleads
"I just want to talk..." he says calmly
"Well I don't, so go back" she doesn't look at him
"When you're okay, we can talk then" Grant walking back
"Go fuck yourself Grant or her, she's more of a woman than me hence why you picked her." She raised her voice
Grant looks at her for a bit but walk back inside.
Shit, this reminds me of myself and Thiko walking away. Candy is crying, I walk to her and wrap my arms around her.
"You're too short" she says after a minute
"You just wanted someone else to be here..." I say
She leaves my arms and look at me.
"I'm an idiot, loving him knowing very well he won't love me back." She exhales
"I mean, he would have picked me a long time ago if he wanted me but knowing all that didn't stop me from availing myself to him every time. That's what hurts the most." She explains
"Maybe you should talk to him, tell him all these things..." I say
She wipes her tears. "Not now, I need a bottle of wine first. I'll see you tomorrow" she hugs me and walk to her car
I feel bad for asking the girl if she was involved with Grant, it really hurt her feelings but it's too late for me to be feeling like this. I walk back in, the guys are watching soccer, the girl is also with them. I don't want to be here but at least I'll order something for them to eat, thank God for Mr D food.

I ended up, dozing off after breastfeeding Denzhe. I'm woken up by a call, it's Candy so I answer.
"Babe" me
"Grant is here..." Candy
The fuck!
"So why did you call me?" I ask
"I don't know..." Candice bathong
"Just talk to him, hear what he wants to say..."
"He said he loves me and I freaked out" Candy
"Okay..." I have no idea what I'm supposed to say
"I locked myself in the bathroom, he's outside waiting for me" she explains
"Please hang up the phone" I beg
She laughs "I need you"
"No you don't, let me eat. I need energy to deal with you" she laughs at me before I finish.

I make my way to the living room, only to find Luke sitting alone. I wonder where Khumo and Thiko went.
"Thanks for the food" Luke says to me as I pass him
I give him a smile.
"Where's your girlfriend?" I ask
We enter the kitchen, I serve myself while he gets sitted.
"I don't have one, I told you" Luke says
"And I also asked why" I say
I get sitted.
"I haven't find the one yet, that's all" he says looking at me as I eat.
"Are you looking for the one? Because by the looks of things you just want a good time." I say
He smiles "I'm not"
"Why?"
"You don't give up do you?" He's laughing at me.
I pout, why is he laughing now?
"I want to know your story" I stop eating
"I fell for the wrong one once, I haven't stopped loving her ever since" he says
"That's a very short love story..." I say
He laughs again
"She broke your heart?" I ask
He shakes his head.
"She doesn't know..." Luke
"Then why are you saying it as if it's a sad story, with a bad ending" I ask
He doesn't respond but look at me, almost observing me.
"What?" I ask him
He wags his head and look at his phone on the table. I'm done eating so I get up and walk to the sink, I'll wash these dishes later I'm so lazy now.
"Wanga..."
He startled me, i am not facing him but he's too close, too close that I can even turn. This is very weird not to mention uncomfortable.
"I feel bad for looking at you the way I do, for wanting you more and more everyday knowing that I'll never have you. The truth is, I don't know how not to..."
"Stop! Don't say any more please..." I cover my ears with my hands
"You take my breath away, compelling me to think of you even more than I should. I'm being selfish telling you all these, I can't love you like this, silently. It's killing me..." Luke stop
Yes the living room door opened, we both heard it so he rushed back to where he was sitted. I hear Khumo and Thiko laughing together and in no time the enter the kitchen.
"Khumo asked Thabile to marry him" Thiko says
I turn to face him, I don't know how to look at Luke anymore so I won't.
"And you're okay with that?" I ask
He smiles at me as he makes his way to me and kiss me. He let's go and take me in his arms.
"Yes, she said no" he says
"I'm sorry man" Luke says to Khumo
"Shut up ass" Khumo
"Such animosity,I mean she's 18" Luke
"It hurts less because it's coming from you, a guy whose whole life is a bad decision" Khumo says
Thiko and Luke are laughing, I think they're not taking it seriously. I look at Luke but I find his eyes on me, I can't so I look at Khumo. Shit, he saw that but like a good friend he continues talking to Thiko. I'm not here anymore...
"I'll go check on Denzhe" I say to Thiko
"Okay babe" he smiles at me
