Kai's breathing slowed as they lay together, bodies tangled in the aftermath of their fierce need. For a long moment, neither spoke. Jennifer stared at the ceiling, feeling his hand drawing idle circles on her bare stomach. He propped himself on one elbow and looked down at her, eyes dark and serious.

"You know what I want, don't you?" His voice was barely more than a whisper.

Jennifer's lips parted; she didn't feign confusion. The conversation had hovered between them in hints and half-spoken words, but she knew what he meant. The thought made her heart pound—a mix of fear, wonder, and something softer she dared not name.

"I want you to have my child," Kai said, his palm splayed possessively across her belly.

"I want you to be mine—completely. Always."

Jennifer's breath caught, the words crashing through her. She searched his eyes, looking for a threat, an ultimatum, but found only raw longing and a hunger that was somehow gentler, more vulnerable than she'd ever seen in him.

 She swallowed. "You're serious."

He nodded, lowering his face to hers, kissing her with a new tenderness. "I want a part of me inside you. I want us to be bound together, forever."

A trembling started in her chest, but this time it wasn't fear. She thought of the bruises blooming across her skin, the way he held her, the way she'd let him. She thought of the future he was offering—frightening, inescapable, but hers to choose.

"Yes," she whispered, surprising herself with how certain she sounded. "If that's what you want... if that's what is needed to keep everyone safe."

Kai's eyes widened, then his mouth claimed hers in a desperate, grateful kiss. His hands moved over her body with renewed urgency, but now there was a new purpose in every touch—a promise, a beginning.

He didn't rush, this time. Every movement was deliberate, worshipful, as he pressed her into the mattress and whispered her name. There was no question about his intent; she met him willingly, hips rising to meet his, letting him fill her completely. They moved together, slow and deep, and when he finally spilled inside her, it was with her name on his lips and his arms locked around her as if he could keep her there forever.

After, he held her close, both of them breathless and trembling, changed by what they'd chosen together."You're mine," he whispered, softer than before. "And soon, you'll carry a part of me."Jennifer closed her eyes, feeling the fullness of him and the future settling between them—a secret, a promise, and a choice they had made, together.

Jennifer woke to the sensation of pressure around her waist.

Kai's arm.

Heavy. Possessive. Unmoving.

For a moment she lay there, eyes half‑open, aware of the dull ache threaded through her body, the faint soreness along her neck where his mouth had lingered too long and too hungrily. The sheets smelled like him—warm, metallic, familiar in a way she didn't want to examine too closely.

Sunlight trickled in through the high windows, pale and cold. It softened nothing.

Kai stirred behind her, his breath brushing her shoulder. He tightened his hold, pulling her back against his chest in one smooth, instinctive motion that reminded her far too clearly of what they'd done only hours before.

"Morning," he said, voice still rough from sleep.

Jennifer swallowed, staring straight ahead. His hand slid up her stomach, fingertips grazing the skin he'd claimed in every way except blood.

Yet.

Kai pressed a slow kiss against her shoulder. "Don't tense up," he murmured. "You said yes. Don't forget that."

She hadn't forgotten. Her body certainly hadn't.

Kai rolled her onto her back so he could look at her. His hair was a mess; his eyes were bright and too awake. There was an almost childlike wonder in the way he stared at her—wonder wrapped in obsession, obsession wrapped in something that might have been love if it weren't so destructive.

He brushed a strand of hair from her forehead. "Last night," he whispered, "felt right."

Jennifer didn't answer. She didn't trust her voice.

He leaned closer, fingertips tracing her collarbone. "I meant what I said. I want a family with you. And now we've taken the first step." His hand drifted lower, resting over her abdomen again, the way he had last night. His thumb circled idly. Too knowingly.

A shiver went through her.

Kai smiled—soft, almost tender, and completely unhinged. "I can feel it," he whispered. "This was supposed to happen. You were supposed to be mine."

She opened her mouth, but he pressed a finger to her lips.

"Don't say you regret it," he warned, voice still gentle but threaded with steel. "You'll hurt my feelings."

She didn't dare say anything.

Kai studied her for a long moment. Something in his expression shifted—deeper, darker, hungrier. "We should try again later," he said casually, as though discussing breakfast. "It's better if it happens soon. Magic responds to intention... and last night, you weren't afraid."

She felt her cheeks burn. "Kai—"

"Shh." He kissed her forehead, then her cheek, then her jaw—each kiss deliberate, claiming, soft in a way that made everything worse. "I want you relaxed today. Happy. You'll be the mother of a coven someday; you should start acting like it."

Jennifer's heart slammed against her ribs. "A coven?" she whispered. "You mean—more than one child?"

Kai laughed quietly, nuzzling her neck. "Oh, sweetheart. So many more."

Jennifer froze.

He felt it.

Kai's hand tightened around her waist—not harsh, but firm enough to pin her in place. "Don't worry," he said soothingly. "I'll take care of everything. You just have to stay here, stay with me, and let things happen the way they're meant to."

He kissed her again—slow, lingering, almost reverent.

"You're mine now," he murmured against her skin. "And I'm not letting anyone take you away."

Outside, the house was silent.

Inside, Jennifer realized the morning light did nothing to make the night feel farther away.

It only made everything feel inevitable.
