When we got home, Clay showed us all his new clothes. He was really proud and happy and before dinner, we started preparing the rooms a bit. I laid down next to Clay as Sapnap was busy with his air mattress. He looked up at us and smiled.
'I have something to tell you,' Sapnap said. 'I'm chatting with someone I like. Her name is Lucia and we've been texting for a while now.'
'That's amazing!' Clay said.
I nodded to agree with him.
'She's very pretty and cute. I'm kind of falling in love with her, even though we haven't really met up yet. I've seen her once.'
'How do you know her?'
'She goes to the same school as we do and I just saw her once when we had the last sports day. I looked up her name on Instagram,' Sapnap grinned. 'Then we started texting. She's really beautiful. Her hair is black and she has a lot of braids in her hair. Her skin is nicely tanned and her smile is amazing.'
'I believe you,' Clay said. 'Girls are uh- so hot.'
I could hear the extreme sarcasm in his voice, but when I noticed he really thought he sounded genuine, I didn't comment on it. I didn't understand how they could talk about girls like this. I never really felt an attraction to girls, I just didn't get it.
Sapnap kept talking about the girl and Clay tried adding in slightly, but it was obvious that he failed miserably. Did he like boys? He got pretty uncomfortable with the jokes about him being gay, maybe he was actually gay? Was I gay as well? I never felt attraction to girls and I found Clay really handsome. Was that gay?
'She's actually so pretty,' Sapnap said again.
'Girls are pretty, I agree,' Clay answered with the sarcastic tone in his voice again.
Sapnap glanced at him with a weird look in his eyes. He probably noticed the same thing as I did, I was genuinely questioning Clay's sexuality now. Although, I didn't want to judge or assume. He could be gay and it was none of my business if he didn't tell me yet. He didn't tell me without a reason if he was anything but straight.
After Sapnap had talked about that girl for minutes, he went downstairs to prepare some dinner. Clay and I stayed in his room for a little, he was busy on his phone and then sighed loudly.
'I hate this,' he muttered. 'My phone is so slow, I tried to download a game I liked, but it doesn't work. My storage is full and I only have forty pictures and the things to call and text people.'
I grabbed my phone and handed it to him. 'I have enough storage so you can download games on my phone.'
Clay smiled shyly and grabbed my phone. 'Are you sure?'
'Of course, you can always grab my phone to play some games. Add your Touch ID so you can get into my phone whenever.'
'How do I do that? I don't know much about phones, I just have this dumb phone from the 16th century,' he said as he rolled his eyes.
I showed him how to do it and he added his fingerprint in my phone, downloading the game he liked after that. He started playing for ten minutes and I just enjoyed sitting next to him as I looked at him sometimes. It made me happy to see him happy with these small things. Things like a game on a phone could make him happy already and a lot of people could learn something from that.
After a while I smiled at him and pointed at my bag. 'I brought my laptop so after dinner we can play Minecraft together. We can build a house together or you can try to play a multiplayer game with others.'
'Do you want to play? Or is it boring for you to watch me play?'
'It makes me really happy to see you happy about such small things.'
'I never got to play Minecraft on my own laptop. My laptop is very crappy and cheap, but I got it for my birthday for school. I can only have Discord, Google and Word on it.'
I was going to ask my mum if I could buy him either a new phone or a new laptop. I could buy him Minecraft so maybe it was better to buy him a new laptop and the game. I was sure that would make him so happy.
'I'm always glad when we play Minecraft,' Clay said with a bright smile on his face. 'Sorry if I use too many things of yours.'
'I offered you to use my stuff. I want you to be happy. I'm happy that you have beautiful clothes and enough food now.'
'I miss my mother a little,' Clay whispered with tears in his eyes. He blinked a few times, sighed deeply and shrugged. 'Sorry, I won't cry. That's just uncomfortable for you.'
'You can cry, don't worry. I understand it as well. It must be very hard for you, but I'm glad to be here for you when your mum can't at the moment.'
'I'm going to pay you back one day.'
'I don't want you to, Clay. I'm never going to accept any of your money.'
Clay wanted to argue against it as Sapnap called us for dinner. We went downstairs and sat down at the table for dinner. I caught myself staring a bit at Clay, he was really handsome and I found it pretty cute when he was shy. I was probably even shyer than he was, but it was still cute to me.
Clay finished his meal very quickly since he was really hungry and waited for us to finish. After we ate our meals too, we went upstairs to play Minecraft. Sapnap grabbed his laptop too and played some games with Clay, giving his laptop to me after that, so I could play with Clay too.
Clay was just very happy and that made me the happiest about this all.
