George's POV

I was awake for a long time and Clay suddenly started moving a bit more. I was just laying still has I heard him mumble some things, I didn't really understand. He seemed to be really hot as he pushed the sheets away.

'George,' he muttered. 'George, yes.'

I didn't know if he was actually talking to me or if wasn't supposed to hear this at all, so I ignored it, looking at the ceiling again.

Clay was panting a little bit and I was genuinely getting worried now. Was I supposed to wake him up? It seemed like he was having a nightmare or something since he was breathing fast.

Just as I was about to wake him up, he breathed out and was quiet. Later Clay started mumbling again, it sounded a bit like: 'I love you, George.'

I had no idea what just happened and closed my eyes as Clay started waking up. I thought he was just having a nightmare since he sounded a bit scared.

Clay woke up slowly and it was really quiet. I held my eyes closed, because I wasn't sure if he wanted me to be awake right now. Clay suddenly let out a small sob and then stood up to run away as fast as possible. I opened my eyes to see him lock the bathroom door behind him and he started sobbing loudly.

I sat up in my bed as Clay kept crying and Sapnap started waking up as well. He rubbed his eyes and sat up, looking around him in confusion. He then noticed the sobs coming from the bathroom and jumped up, running to the door as he knocked on it.

I was way too confused about what was happening and Sapnap went into the bathroom, having Clay only sob louder. He ended up crying and breathing really fast and I heard Sapnap softly talking to him.

'It's fine, Clay. Calm down.'

Clay wasn't able to talk, because it seemed like he was hyperventilating now. I really didn't know what to do, Sapnap clearly knew more than I did and I didn't want to walk in when I wasn't allowed to know something.

Clay kept crying for minutes and Sapnap was constantly quietly speaking to Clay. Though, the voices were too quiet for me to hear and I didn't want to either. I respected both their boundaries.

A bit later Sapnap came back and laid down on his air mattress without saying much. He only smiled shortly and I saw him closing his eyes again.

Clay came back ten minutes later and cleared his throat as he saw me looking at him.

'Are you okay?' I asked as I sat up. 'Did you have a nightmare?'

'Uh-,' Clay muttered. He stared at his hands and sat back down in his bed. 'Yeah, I guess I did.'

'Are you okay? Do you want to talk about it?'

Clay shrugged. 'I'd rather not talk about it anymore. I'm okay again, have you slept?'

I shook my head. 'I can't really sleep, I'm just a bit scared in the dark and- I'm sorry, I really sound like a pussy now.'

'Do you uh- want to cuddle?'

I blushed which he luckily couldn't see because of the dark. I then nodded and he giggled as he pulled me closer to him. We cuddled up together and Clay ran his hand through my hair as he smiled.

'You don't have to be scared with me.'

'Sorry for being a pussy,' I whispered. 'I have just always been a bit scared of the dark and things like that.'

'I don't want you to apologise for that, you can't help it.'

'Are you actually okay, Clay? I've heard you cry a few times,' I whispered so I wouldn't wake Sapnap back up.

Clay sighed softly and shrugged. 'I just had some weird dreams which confused me a lot. They made me a bit upset.'

'You can always talk to me,' I said with a smile as I rested my head on Clay's chest.

Both Clay and I ended up falling asleep a bit later at night and I woke up early. Sapnap and Clay were still sleeping and I sat up, looking at Clay peacefully sleeping. His cheeks had slightly heated up as he had a small smile on his face. It was a pretty cute sight to see.

I smiled as I stood up to take a quick shower. Yesterday Sapnap bought all the ingredients for muffins. We would be baking them this morning or afternoon and we planned on going to take a long walk through the woods in the evening. I was a little bit scared, but I was glad that Clay knew I didn't like darkness much.

When I came back to the room, I saw Clay and Sapnap sitting down on the bed. Sapnap was talking to Clay and Clay seemed to be a bit sad again. I ignored it since they didn't want me to know apparently and sat down as well.

'George, I'm not trying to leave you out of something and I will tell you what's going on at one point, but I can't just now.'

'That's fine, it doesn't bother me in the slightest. You're my best friend and I'm sure that you have a good reason to hide something for me.'

I was genuinely not bothered with it. He needed time to tell me something and that was totally fine. I respected any of his boundaries.

'Thank you,' Clay muttered. 'I promise you that I'll tell you one day, but I'm not ready yet.'

'That's fine, can I hug you?'

'If you want,' Clay muttered shyly.

I smiled and gave him a tight hug, standing up after. 'I'm going downstairs, I'll make you both some breakfast. I'll bake some eggs and bacon if you like.'

'That sounds good,' Clay said with a shy smile.

'Sounds good to me too,' Sapnap replied.

I stood up to go downstairs and prepare the breakfast I promised them, just to let them have a talk as well.
