Fever season
I promise, I'll be back before sunset.
It's raining, but something sonically tranquil in the air
Overpowers the sky's tears. It's off in the distance.
Solemn piano keys, singing to the tune of
A miracle in a sun shower. The back of my mind
Wishes it were... well, me. In another life.
On a soundproof rooftop. Running my hands through
Strained, silver keys. Playing a foolproof melody
Of life that battled off the rain's strict, almostMetallic rhythm. I tell it to shut up, or else
I would not get to hear the orchestra of the wind.
I'm on land, on my two feet. Why does my umbrella
Feel like a life jacket? I painted yellow petals on it
To mask my fear. It was my last resort to turning
The sky's anguish into a festivity. Like the
Reckless rainfall, I let it drop to the ground.
The gift on the sidewalk across my house
Is far more vital. My feet are heavy thumps
On the diluted gravel. I pick it up carefully. What seemed to be a musical keepsake
Is now a sharp cut to my jaded clarity.━━━ ❦ ━━━
