Life in another language

Today's relic of philosophy discusses the humor of
How our lives look a lot like a wheel. No start, no end.

This morning, I discovered that the sun is round,
And so are the antiques that adorn my house.

The earth, too, is round, just like the colorful planets
That rotate and revolve with it, making our solar system.

I first imagined going to space, thinking about how
Easy it would be to race around a planet's orbit.

I then imagined travelling by spinning, not walking,
In some devotional act of creating our own axes.

And if we'd spin too hard, we'd topple off this wheel
As if we'd broken this sacred pact of getting dizzy.

It's like becoming a rock that punctures your car tires
And leaves you with no choice but to stop driving.

The wheel won't stop for you, though. It'll just keep
Turning, and eventually, it'll find your replacement.

So, if this isn't for you, you can say that our lives could
Also be a star, or a rhombus, or an isosceles triangle.

I was never really good at geometry.
