It's time
At the instantaneous drop of a hat— What makes you say, "It's time"? What makes you close the pages Of a book you'd oh-so-halfheartedly close? What makes you switch off The colorful dreams that define your "always"? What makes you replace The light at the end of the tunnel With an echo that blinds, an oasis that deafens? It's time. No feelings that stream alongside your blood flow, No music that simmers down your troubled soul, No smile that makes the world stop To capture it in a heart-wrenching breath, Just time. Time, the reckless rush of neglect At the instant a hat drops.
