An anthology of musings

To myself. Thank you for finally getting your ass up to work and churn out content. This is only the beginning of the rest of your life, writing up hurricanes for the world to see.
To God. Thank You for letting me storm the heavens with prayers every night that this book (and all my future endeavors) would succeed. I never thought I'd get here at all, but this just goes to show that Your plans are much bigger than mine.
To good, ol' Billy Shakes, I hope you get the chance to read these poems in heaven. That way, I can finally let you experience what cringing feels like.
To W.H. Auden, what else can I say? Funeral Blues impacted my life in countless, irreplaceable ways. Poems like yours make me wanna kiss the ground and thank whatever gave you the inspiration to even have those words buzz around in your brain.
To Taylor Swift, I believe that it's more than just this anthology's playlist that you have power over. I know I wrote every single word in this book, but that's because I was almost limitlessly deep in your music as my pieces had come to life. Your craft is unmatched and your influence knows no limits. I'm so grateful to have been born in the same generation as you and your music, even though we all know damn well that your art's timeless.
To my family, I'm eternally grateful for the home you gave me that always lets me pursue my passion in the simplest yet most impactful ways possible.
To my high school and college friends. One day, I'll be brave enough to show you who I really am through the stories I write. Though I'm scared of what you'll have to say about my passion, you've all helped me through the ups and downs I've experienced in pursuing it, anyway. I owe you guys a lot for that.
To you (I won't say your name for privacy's sake), one of my first college friends who inspired me to start posting my writing on Twitter in the first place. I love and adore you. Thank you for encouraging me to stop being scared of what I'm capable of (and what I'm yet to become), and to take pride in silencing the bevy of Brunos in my head (I'm not sure if you get the Luca reference, but this was worth the shot).
To Frances, Carms, and Alanah, my Salazar sisters. Thank you, truly, for being my online home. I love you 3 to the depths of my being and I'll defend you guys until my last breath.
To the Axelotls, the Sandies, and my older online communities (even the ones from way back), it's with a joyful heart that I present this book to you all as living proof that being in a community that lifts one another up instead of bringing each other down and letting our shortcomings get the best of us can only take us places. Thank you for being my anchors through this feat.
To my newly found friends in the writing community: you know who you are. My Saccharine 17 had never looked this bright and beautiful. I hope and pray that you all keep shining and keep the fire burning. The storytelling world needs you more than you think.
And lastly, to my love, I'd give you every ounce of writing energy I have if I could. Thank you for being my supporter since the beginning, especially when I thought I couldn't move forward anymore. I love you, always and forever.
I'm the comedian whose life is tough, and whose crowd is tougher.
But you all sparked a vivacious light in me that'll never, ever falter.
From the bottom of my heart, I thank you.
'Til the next chapter,
Andrea ♡
